Digital Trends reviewer who says the U7K is the best TV for most people

https://youtu.be/0PvuwLda_ac?si=CxduGWWatG1nxZoH
Lol they give it away cuz it's really worth like $15 even though they sell it for $100
Good prices, the U7k is the sweet spot for price and quality. This is inevitably going to be asked, the U75k is just Costco's version, which undoubtedly is the same as all other versions (but better warranty, which is worth something). The promo is literally worthless to me, but you can always use it to test settings or ... something. They never give good games in these promos, give me AoE or something next time!

Just installed one last night , an upgrade from a ~ 2017 X900E Sony 4k HDR panel.

The reviewers are right about the performance / dollar. Excellent color, brightness, contrast.

I'm impressed by the upgraded clarity & noise reduction features. I usually turn most of those off, but on the Hisense they perform very well with negligible loss in quality & sharpness. Particularly the gradient smoothing , motion mouthing & noise reduction.

The UI is smooth & usable (2 GB ram, ~ 32 GB storage, ?? CPU),there are a notable improvements & tweaks to Google TV UI like the bottom menu which lets you add custom quick-access controls for brightness, ambient sensor, color etc.

The HiSense does produce a lot of telemetry traffic, so route DNS through an adblocker . That's true for most TVs and HiSense does let you disable Automated Content Monitoring (screen capture).

Use the RTings TV Size to Room Size calculator to target 30º FOV. I went for about 32º and cinema is about 40º

At $900 it feels like a steal .
Hisense USA website doesn't have any 7 series, the latest one is U8. Is this a previous gen TV?

The number in Hisense models isn't the generation, it's the tier.

U8K>U7>U6, etc.

The generation is denoted by a letter going up each year: U7G, U7H, U7K.

Edit for clarity: U75K is a Costco exclusive with a warranty. The model that happens to be 75" is confusingly called the 75U75K

The SoC that is being used went a long way towards a snappy interface.

Bought in early September from Costco; price adjust doesn't show. Do I box up and return or will they generally adjust if talking to a rep?
Submit a request for adjustment... but the policy is 30 days from purchase. If that fails you can do the return and rebuy, or talk nicely to a rep.

Also it looks like if we buy it from Costco it comes with a 3 year warranty correct? Can we add an Allstate warranty on top of that from Costco? I believe the Allstate warranty is for 5 years so I think it would only add an additional 2 years to the 3 year warranty for a total of 5 correct? Still might be worth it for $64.99 for an additional 2 years of warranty to hit that 5 year mark?

How are the viewing angles on the 75"? They should be good as it's supposed to have either an IPS or ADS PRO panel but figured I would ask. Glad to hear that you like the TV so far.

Also how far away are you sitting from it?

Not OP but I bought the TV a few weeks ago and love it. The viewing angles are great on the 75" model and it gets very bright. I pulled the trigger when I found out that one had an ADS PRO panel. It's in a living room about 10ft away. I have a bar area and a kitchen off to the side so I needed a wide viewing angle. I use it mainly for sports and have a 77" OLED in the bedroom so I can't really comment on contrast. It can't touch the perfect blacks but I'm blown away how good it looks dollar for dollar with the OLED and it's perfect for my use.

Can anyone comment on the UI interface's responsiveness on this set? The last Hisense I bought (about 3 years ago) was so slow it was unusable, ended up connecting an external Roku device.
Honestly, all built in streaming capabilities are terrible. Get this and get an apple tv

Wow thanks for the reply and it sounds especially nice when you have a 77" OLED to boot. Are you using the internal apps or a streaming device? I'm upgrading from a 65" LG IPS LED (6ish+ years old) and I've been using a Google Chromecast for streaming on it the last few years. I think I'll spring for an Apple TV 4K for my new TV.

Did you happen to buy your U7K at Costco as well?

If you were given the following options which would you choose?
- HiSense U75K 75" for $970 after tax, w/ Costco warranty and returns
- LG B3 77" for $1690 after tax, w/ manufacturer 1 yr warranty
- Samsung S90C 77" for $2160 after tax, w/ free 2 year Samsung Care+

Will be using in a rather bright living room, mostly to watch sports and movies, with occasional video gaming. Thanks!

The U7K is actually only marginally brighter than the B3. But that's a massively wide range of options... Low mid tier LED, mid tier OLED, arguably the best TV money can buy.

If you're worried about brightness in your living room, the U8K might be a more sensible compromise - it's insanely bright and slightly lower in price than the B3.

That is quite the spread of price and technology. If you've got the money, then go big!

The U7K is marginally a low/mid range tv and really shouldn't be grouped with the B3 and S90C

Is this a huge improvement over the 6 series? Would it be worth the $400 difference?

Easy choice for your use case: S90C
