stay away from Arlo camera, the battery can last less than 3 month even you turn off the camera.

Buyer Beware: This is not compatible with most Arlo or third party solar panels (will work with VMA6600 Essential Solar Panel 2nd Generation) and uses usb-c to charge. The camera itself is good quality but is a PITA to charge depending on mount location. According to Arlo, the charging port and included cable are not outdoor rated so I assume it will need to be unmounted and charged indoors. It is an upgrade from the gen 1 essential camera which uses a micro usb charger. I purchased one and sent it back because of the charging.

chances are you have old battery cells mine were 2 yrs old before they started to last less then 3 months also i should point out it depends on if u are recording 24 7 in high traffic areas that also depletes the battery alot faster then regular use

I wasn't concern about the way I look. LMAO
It was more about them hacking these wireless security cameras to get into my home network!
Best practice is to use a VLAN network strictly for the IoT devices and a second VLAN for trusted devices. Most wireless routers allow for an IoT network much like a guest network that's isolated from whatever traffic you choose with little effort

I have bn using my arlo system for 5 years I think, battery still running strong. I put them on battery saver mode. I also have two three factor authentication on. I think arlo is great. But there is a limit for 5 cameras. Without sub you have one week of video recorded, what else u want.

about 2- 3 months, not bad
Yeah, I don't understand why a 2-3 month battery life is that bad? We all know estimates given on battery life for all things are never that accurate and it really isn't that much of a pain to take off and charge for a few hours to get your camera back in good shape

That's honestly not clear on what will happen. Some devices lose email notifcations, which I don't use.

Some may get reduced or eliminated push alerts...

I had the 7 day free account due to being a beta tester for Arlo Q. But have 3 more of these Essentials also on it with no issues.

Guess we'll see!

Good advice

But I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the person you're replying to has no clue what you just said lol

Stay away from arlo if you plan to have them last more than 2-3 years.
Batteries die in less than 2 years
Their wifi antenna is not long range
Disconnect issues often
Some even require a subscription

So much mis-information or half-truths in this thread so this may help...

Wirelessly connected to my Arlo VMB4000 base stations (with MicrSD card to locally record videos) are:
2 - Pro Cameras
1 - Arlo camera doorbell
1 - Essential XL camera

The 2 Pro cameras are wired, with a long charging cable, to a USB charger allowing the use of zones. Without power, the zone feature is not enabled.
The Arlo doorbell is using the $4/month subscription to enable the use of zones and other features.
The Essential XL camera video is battery-only at this time.

All video for these 4 cameras is stored locally on the base station and is accessible via the Arlo app.

The Pro cameras are at least 3 years old and still on their original batteries and the batteries act as backup when we occasionally lose power.

Pretty sure these are standalone but can be added to base.

I have base and pro, and I bought this last year. I did not pay for subscription, and for some reason the pro does record and this doesn't. I couldn't figure out why this doesn't record.
