I was planning on a Black Friday rebuild... but this is a strike now opportunity instead of waiting, huh? I mostly do productivity tasks and machine learning, so I was leaning a new Intel chip but I had looked at this one prior and it seemed plenty strong

I was able to have BestBuy price match this online via chat and have it shipped to me. I don't live anywhere near a MicroCenter and didn't expect it to work, but it did.

caught up supply & tanked demand. people still holding onto their zen 3 that they overpaid for (like myself) during the pandemic.
not only that, the prior gen is still available at lower prices.
not only that, the gpu market/pricing is absolute shite thanks to nvidia, so if people had to budget for a decent gpu, they'd probably forgo on getting the best of the best cpu/mobo (don't get me started on mobo prices).
not only that, AM5 means brand new platform adoption, which was very cost prohibitive when it first came out.
You think GPU market will be better over the coming 6-8 months? I have a 2070 Super + Zen 5 3600, does great tbh but really would like a 4070 soon or something close

This makes the MicroCenter bundle not that good of a deal.

Bought separately, the CPU is $300. The motherboard is $200. The RAM is $100.

The bundle is only a $100 discount. And the motherboard it comes with is not actually worth $200.

Something funny is going on with some cpu prices. Jump on these quick, I think they are possibly mistakes:

i7-13700K - 269.91 Not a typo, this is about 100 lower than normal

Ryzen 5 5600X3D - 156.81 This was 229 or so

Ryzen 9 7900X - 288.10 This seems about 80 to 100 lower than normal

Again, not sure what the deal is but jump quick or the prices might go back to what they were.
I saw the 7900x earlier, but seems to power hungry for gaming. But at that price, very hard to pass

Yeah, the cpu discount gives the buyer more options. I needed a mini itx board for my build so this is better for me vs the bundle.

Is it not due to Intel releasing the 14 series? The next generation CPU from AMD is probably right around the corner as well.

Tough decision. At 4K trying to decide if its better to go with 7900X or just stick to my 5XXX chips a bit longer.
If you can get the 5800X3D for cheap, it is only a like 1-3% behind the 13900K and 7800X3D at 4K games benchmarked with a 4090.

Anything lower than the 4090 and the performance difference is essentially non-existent.

Sell 7800x and buy this, OR just wait for 8800x3d?
9900x3d. You're set for at least 2 generations if not more.

4k gaming get the 7900x. Faster outside of games extra cores and only marginally slower in games.

1440p or lower get the 7800x3d. Theres more things to consider but thats a SparkNotes version.

I have a tough decision to make as well. Keep 5600x and 5800x or jump to 7900x? Im thinking i keep the Zen3 for a bit longer.

Getting rid of my old components is a pita.
