I might disagree slightly. I have a 5600x and am upgrading purely for the 3D cache. I am exclusively a flight simmer and that extra cache makes a world of difference (according to what I have seen). Maybe it's not going to be worth it, but I am CPU limited in XP12 with a 3060ti so I'm hopeful this helps out my mid-level "budget" build without having to touch the mobo or RAM.

To me, the cost of the chip + extra cooling requirements do not seem to justify the minor gain from a 5600G. If building a new system though, yeah, I really like to see the competition and the prices dropping. I picked up the 5600G for $89 just before last Christmas.
I mean it's not just with a 4090 - it would also be true with a less powerful GPU as long as it's not being fully loaded. Even with my old 1080ti I saw about a 50% increase from a 5600x to a 5800x3d in many esports titles when set to low at 1080p. When the GPU was loaded I saw better frametimes overall but the difference was definitely not night and day.

also waiting for 5800x3d to replace the 3700x, so i can keep the old board and all other stuff lol

Me too👌 I've got a 3090, 32 GB of RAM, and the 3700 X is a bit of a bottleneck.

The sad thing is, I mostly only play Age of Empires 2 and Rocket League lol, so I don't need any of this stuff 😂

I don't think I can get on am5 for under $50 (after selling my 5600x). This is 100% worth it.

I went from 2700x to 5600 x and noticed in a few games one of them csgo I had nearly doubled my frames.

Note they also have a $25 off processors for new customers who "Sign up to get your in-store coupon via text" in case you want more of a discount! Can ask your friend (who doesn't live near a MC) to do it for you and have them send you the coupon. At least, for me, they did not ask for any verification - just scanned the barcode.

I was hoping to pickup a 5700x for this price, but I might make the trek to Microcenter to pick this up instead. 6 cores is probably good enough for my needs and benchmarks for this CPU seem similar to 5800x3d in gaming.
