Basicallly I am kind of asking why OpenBox is even cheaper than Certified-PreOwned...what's the catch/risk if any?
attached photo, last night it said April 18 2023. (gf's MacBook does too) which makes me think that's the day they refurbished these together or something. idk.
but now it says nov 17 2024 after I sent apple receipt, and did same for her.
my gf's it was used, the cord was unwound etc. but she has 5 charge cycles total, so they probably had buyers remorse or wanted a different model.
both are 100% new condition not a single mark or scuff. we just got 10% off the 1199 deal due to being open box. id totally snatch it if you see one, I click d"reserve" and don't even make you pay. got 3 days to grab it, and then releases if you don't.

use this link, and look at the MacBooks, it says their price, ie. 1199. If there's an open box it'l say "open box for 1079" or whatever under the price, and say 1 available, click it, and its say whatever, ours said "perfect, open box" 1079. CLICK RESERVE AND CHECKOUT. you got 3 days to go and pick up/pay for it.
no payment is asked or anything on the site, 5 mins later got a confirmation saying "ready for pick up"
I live 40 mins away, so pain in ass, I drove 40 mins there, got mine, came back, and today scored another, so drove 40mins there, 40 back. but its good because I got her 256 M2 air last week for 800, she agreed to pay 350 for the upgrade cost between two.
This is such a damn good deal. there was a 16inch open box, 10core, 1tb model for 1300. but I don't want a 16 inch, so ignored it.

look at the charger in this link, it says new, and then open box under it. that's how the MacBooks will look.

Which one did you get? I nabbed the 1199 model on 10% open box,they literally opened box and put it back. (As far as I'm aware) will find out charges in a second

I'm selling my m1 air 256 for 600, and I'm also selling my Lenovo legion 5 3050ti ryzen 5600h I bought for 400, (for 600, 16gb ram, 1tb ssd) got people messaging already.
that'll pay for this MBP in full!.
I don't use the legion at all, it's honestly an eyesore. terrible screen and such, I'm a casual gamer, and mostly emulator. I will probably snag parallels and run some games on this, if it works.

One gripe though: I doin't think I ever had an intel Mac pop up and tell me it's out of application memory... it happens all the time on the M1 Pro w/ 16GB memory though... thought they were supposed to be more efficient at memory use.
debating this still, between a $2199 (apple edu pricing) for an M3 Pro with same tier specs (M3 Pro 12C 18GB/1TB), but it is $800 more
