Seems like a good deal., I barely see this item on deal, the most decent and recent deal is when target gave 20% off on Apple accessories

Bought one for about $100 from Amazon Warehouse - New but original box was slightly damaged. Rechargeable and Fingerprint Sensor make it awesomeโ€ฆ. BUT, I sure wish I had spent a bit more for the full keyboard with the Number Keypad.

How can a keyboard, especially one without a number pad, cost over $100? Does it type for you?

Nope. Just adds to the market cap for the company.

has the finger print sensor to lock and unlock, and fill in passwords automatically.

Keychain/password managers can do that without a fingerprint sensor...

Not saying that I don't enjoy having it on my M1 MBP, but $120+ for a crappy keyboard JUST to have TouchID feels like robbery.

Let's say you step away a minute from your computer, someone could hop on and capture passwords unless you secured it. Biometric lock is more convenient than entering a password each time you want to access passwords.

Sure, but that's a super hypothetical and highly unlikely scenario. That's like leaving your phone unlocked in a public place and "stepping away for a second". Nobody does that.

If you're in an environment where people are gonna capture your passwords the minute you step away, there are bigger things to be worried about...

People step away from their computers, it's not unlikely at all.

Leave it unlocked and step away and have someone steal your info in a minute? That scenario as a whole is unlikely.

Most people who use computers outside of home are either in an office environment or in public. Idk about you but I'm not "stepping away" and leaving my computer in a public place, much less unlocked. As for the other scenario, if you have coworkers trying to hijack your stuff... Idk what to tell you.

Honestly, if I were the thief/hacker, I'd just take your fancy TouchID keyboard ๐Ÿ˜‰

Argue it all you want, but you either should unlock your passwords through a password or biometric. I'd rather go with biometric for convenience. You have no idea who passes through an office, relying on trusting others isn't a smart security policy but you do you. What I'm securing is worth way more than the devices itself, so if someone wanted to steal my laptop or kb itself, I'd take that over my passwords being exposed.

If you can remember to lock it every single time it you leave your computer for a few minutes sure that would work too. Personally I know I could not follow that and would forget to.
