PS4 is 10 years old. No kid really wants this or will be excited maybe for an adult

That's like some poor kid getting a Gobot instead of a Transformer on Christmas morning
Come on now, graphics are still above a Switch, and the library of A+ games is HUGE.
They are still releasing both ps4/ps5 versions of most newer tiles (though that is starting to change, Spider-man 2 being an example).
I just bought a PS4 last year, and my kids love gaming on it, could care less it is not a PS5 (May be a different story if they were teens and did nothing but play the latest MMOG)
Pair this with (hopefully) a BF sale on playstation+ and you have a year of gaming on the cheap.
Was gonna buy a 3rd PS4 controller for $40, so decided to pick this up instead as a back-up console.
Would have been worth buying had nearly every exclusive title not magically appeared on PC/other consoles in the past few years. Worthless to me now since I have Steam and the Series X

To be fair, 10 years is not the age it used to be. Graphics are not noticeably (for the layman) improving nearly as quickly as they once did. The average lifespan of a console is only getting longer and marketable improvements to new Gens are much less straightforward. Hence earlier comment regarding the saturation of cross-Gen releases. 10 years is going to FEEL old to say but nowadays is it really? Honestly this is just longevity of today's consoles overall

I would rather spend money on a PS5 that can double as a PS4 (backwards compatible) and a also play 4K Blu Ray discs. Quieter and faster operation, more future proof, and just better overall.
There are levels to this- most PS4 games look best on PS5, then PS4 Pro, then finally PS4 original launch and Slim.
If this were a PS4 Pro, then maybe its a deal. But the original PS4 and the PS4 Slim were def long in the tooth with graphics and loading not to mention how loud they were with cooling (now that I think of it, ALL PS4s including the Pro were super loud).
I would just spend more and invest in a PS5 especially since you can get one for $450.
