Escort's latest MAX 360 MKII radar detector is currently on sale at most retailers for $50 off, but buying direct from Escort's web site, brings it down to $449.95 w/"VIP50" discount code (another $50 off) and free shipping. About as cheap as it gets for an excellent radar detector!
Pretty good I have the Max 360 v1 and was the first directional radar after Valentine's patent expired. Though the Uniden R8 also seems pretty performant and has integration with third party apps, e.g. 'highway radar'. Many aren't too useful nowadays unless going on long commutes or roadtrips, ALPs are the way to go.
Feedback online seems to indicate this is inferior even to Uniden's last gen R7, let alone the R8. Should have picked up another R7 when Best Buy was clearing them out for $350, you can't find used R7s for that price now.

Not in my opinion. There are known speedtraps throughout the nation. Small towns will purposely drop a rural 65mph highway down to 35 just to generate revenue. It's predation of the citizenry, but of course they let their friends and police buddies go. I would pay $5000 not to give $500 to the backwoods shitkicking cops in those little towns. I still try to drive the speed limit mostly.
IMO I have found that Waze is the most useful in detecting speed traps. It's free. It's not always 100% accurate and there are false positives as it relies on feedback from the users, but for me, it beats spending hundreds of bucks for something that also isn't 100% accurate.

Depends on how busy the road you are driving on. If no one is using Waze, the. You are out of luck.
