Wow!! Too bad I just bought the 5. From the look of things the 5 and 6 are pretty similar.

I wonder why the huge discount so early in it's cycle

I own the Charge 5 and one of the most annoying things about it is that when the battery gets low it should do more than just send an email reminding you to charge the watch. It should also send an alert to the app, text a message, and be able to set the reminder at any charge % of your choosing.

Can the 6 do any of those things?

This might seem like a decent price, but I'd highly suggest to avoid Fitbit. I have a Fitbit Charge 5 and it got bricked by a firmware/software update earlier this year. It basically can't turn on anymore and this happened just outside the 1 year warranty period. There are numerous reports of people who got affected by this issue (see Fitbit and reddit forums, amazon reviews), but Fitbit didn't handle the situation right. They basically minimized the issue saying that only a small number of users were impacted (not true) and only offered a 35% coupon to people who raised the issue to buy another Fitbit watch.

I know that product issues sometime happen, but how a company handles such situations will show whether they really stand behind the product and customers. Fitbit utterly failed this test and I think there is a class action being developed for the Charge 5 issue. Basically, if a Fitbit fails outside of the 1 year warranty period, even if the failure is caused by Fitbit's firmware/software upgrade, you are out of luck. Will never be buying a Fitbit again in my life due to this experience.

Just get the Charge 5 pebble for $39.99 on Ebay; Google clearly is trying to kill the Fitbit brand so why not snatch up a couple cheaper ones while you can.

I feel like a lot of the negative reviews are due to the app changes. There's one that freaks out over creating a google account.

I have the Charge 5 and I like it. I went in on this deal because I'm curious about the better sensors its supposed to have. I also chose the charge series because I'm in the market for a tracker, not a full blown smart watch.

Echoing your experience, although mine was with Sense 2, on QC and CS. I had issues with its speaker while within warranty. The warranty claim process was extremely lackluster. I have dealt with incompetent CS- Walmart, AT&T, you name it, I've done it. Fitbit unfortunately, set a new low standard. I'd be lucky to get an email response in 3 days asking me repeating questions or ask me to reset my watch as they did in an email 7 days ago. It took 1 full month for them to send me a label for return, another month to receive replacement (took them 7 days after receipt to reach out and confirm address before they started "looking into" sending out replacement). The replacement was DOA- the vibrator was loose inside the watch, and makes loud rattling noise when it vibrates. Back to the same loop- 3-7 days asking me to reset... Then a second request to reset after 3-7 days. When I question them on the logic behind sw reset to fix hw issue, they went into a loop of asking me to confirm that I have indeed performed sw reset. Mind you, each communication took a minimum of 3 days. I had enough and reached out to their facebook, called CS, nothing helped. Eventually filed a formal complaint with BBB... Boom. 3 days later, the return label is ready.

I really wonder if this is Google intentionally killing Fitbit, or has it been this bad since their prime.

Google is withdrawing Fitbit devices from world markets. They're dropping the Fitbit line.
