people laugh on why i keep buying dvd's and bluray but truth is you should never solely rely on streaming!
same reason you should have at least 2 tv antennas around the house! if your internet is down for a week you need to learn how to survive and not turn into a southpark episode searching for "internets".

Just a heads up "The consumer-electronics retailer will phase out sales of DVDs and Blu-ray discs both in-store and online in early 2024, according to industry sources familiar with the company's plans. Best Buy made the initial decision to end DVD sales nine months ago, according to one source."

Here is hoping they have major discounts on everything (particularly Steelbooks) whenever that happens.

I don't really mind 2 months of Black Friday deals as much as others do. I just wish they would stop calling it variations of "Black Friday". 🀷
yeah something tells me retailers get a cheap thrill out of using the word "black friday" for just about every sale after september first!
just as long as they don't become like my local barber and call it "nubian friday" it's all good!

Do we have sales prices for anything that is not already on sale? MSRP appears to be a placeholder. I guess I'll have to wait until the 13th anyways, would just be nice to know what the prices are going to be.

Will Amazon match?
Amazon will probably match a lot of these, but next year will be interesting when Best Buy decides to pull the plug on movies. Best Buy normally leads and Amazon follows, not sure how that's going to work next year.

Internet down for a week?!? Where do you live? Chernobyl? Or are you just a fellow Spectrum customer?

Australia Just this past week had a day or two of 50% with no internet and claimed it might happen again, more often. One of the power moves is to take down the internet for a short period of time and blame a group then to protect from said group only allow people on who submit to the digital id to log on to the internet. No digital id no internet. Dont think for a sec that it wont be put into your social credit score what you do with your id as well.

Aside from the possibility of the net going down you have the practical means that the company could simply go under and if you have $1000 in digital movies you might have $0 the day after. OR if you go against the grain and get your account canceled. I think its very wise to get your physical movies and they come with digital copies anyways most the time.

Copping Wakanda Forever for sure. Happy to see it's below my target sales price of $18.50.

I buy to support the films/works I want to see keep being made. I will say a couple things:
  1. Set up a whole house antenna if you have the budget for it
  2. Streaming has the advantage of HEVC (which I don't think the 4K Blu-ray spec includes) the ability to continuously add features. It's also much more convenient if, like me, you have a very short attention span and are rarely able to watch a movie in 1 sitting. But at the end of the day you don't own the content and need a disc for the latter
Cheers!

That's nuts to me. Unless everyone has gigabit internet at home, streaming just can't compete in quality with physical media...

I can tell you how it will work:

Amazon will raise the price as high as they can while still being able to sell, and you'll either pay that price or you won't get your disc.

This is why supporting other places is good and always buying from Amazon is not.
