If you can live with the 512GB hard drive, this is a great deal.

Watch MKBHD's new video. He is a power user and is still sticking with the M1. You won't regret which ever you get, and it will last a long time.

He's sticking with the M1 because he has a dedicated Max studio as his work machine and his entire team to do the editing and all the heavy work loads. He's just using the M1 for his email, browsing, travel etc.. So for his use case it doesn't make any sense.

I'm not saying everyone should go for the latest and greatest. But your statement is not a fair comparison. It's like telling a person who works at a 9-5 job "look at Bezos, he's not working 9-5 yet he's a billionaire" Smilie

I hate Adorama, placed an order with their card and my order went directly to manual verification, and now i'm stuck with their credit card that i can't use to pay for an item in their store... Verification team saying that me is not me and asking me to pay for that macbook VIA WIRE TRANSFER lol, with 20$ fee over the price to "verify" me. Clown fiesta, don't recommend to buy there at all.
A friend got one of those Adorama Cards. No expiration date!!! He tried to use it and they ask for the expiration date. Well, it doesn't have one. He couldn't use it. What kind of idiots are they?!?!?!

The M1 Pro is screaming fast for non-pro users and 32GB is total overkill. I've done web dev just fine on 8GB and 16GB models with the M series processors

People use macbooks for years, there's no reason this won't work for you. Wanting the new thing is totally understandable but not necessary, even for really high end users (see MKBHD's new M3 MBP laptop wherein he canceled his order and stuck with the M1 Max)

only on mac will be pay $1500 for a 3 year old computer and feel like they got a great deal.

even that aside, unless you have a very specific use patter that 32gb ram is way more than you need.

you're also paying for the pro chip that lets you use more than 2 monitors.
You sound like such an "expert" yet you trip on your very first fact. The MacBook with M1 Pro was introduced OCT 2021. That makes it TWO years old, not 3.

If this not gonna work with their credit card i'll call Synchrony bank and close my CC, and mention about terms and condition scam, and in addition remove all hard checks

I'm not processing any expertise... I own both an m1 and an M2 although admittedly both are non pro. Sure, two years, fine, but that is still a long time. I mean let's look at cell phones. How much is a fall 21 phone worth these days?

Anyway, glad for you if this is what you want, but I'm just SMH

Think we'll see a bunch of M1 Pro deals ...

Is there a difference in the HDMI output capability of these M1 models vs M2? It seemed that there were, only M2 has HDMI 2.1, but some conflicting threads out there.

Would you run away from a 2 year old high end 4K OLED TV at half price because it's a 2 year old model? Some things just don't age as fast as others or, in the case of this MacBook, the savings vs performance gains where savings win. Plus, they all have the same warranty.

With regards to the fall '21 phone -- if I were in the market for a high-end iPhone and could get a iPhone 13 Pro Max 512GB for half price, I might consider it seriously because, really, how much has iPhone changed in the last 2 generations?

Yeah, I get you. Hopefully these will have software support for many years to come. https://9to5mac.com/2023/11/10/m3...0than%20M1. has a good comparison. It's true that the m1 pro is not drastically inferior to the m3 pro.

Yikes, always the 8-core CPU, not much improvement over standard M1. Time to pull out your 10-core inventory Adorama!!!
Except it is - it's not only better from a performance standpoint, but it also supports multiple external displays where the plain M1 macbooks don't.

And from a performance standpoint, even the plain jane M1s still have more than enough performance headroom to last years and years longer for most people. Most people wouldn't even notice the extra 2 cores.
