California sales tax kills it , the new law now makes it $2,000 threshold used to be $1,500.00 Costco online will show $1,999.99 and then add on about $160.00 tax if you live in Cali. Lots of people on here do not know what they are talking about. Hope this helps someone who's thinking about pulling the trigger😎

The logic on this doesn't track for me.

Serious question for the prepper-types: What makes you think anyone would be interested in your soft, shiny metal in a post-society scenario? I would think anyone actually serious about prepping for such an occasion would get much more mileage out of hording useful metals and the equipment to make use of it.
I know, right?

Gold had use as a medium of exchange in historical *societies*. It was used primarily in civilized nations. They may have been ancient civilizations, but they were civilizations where rates of exchange had time to standardize, there was some level of rule of law, and organized trade was ongoing. It is not like gold was the first currency or even the most widespread precious metal at times (British money is "Pounds Sterling" because they used silver until they ran out).

Why would you think it would work on an apocalyptic societal collapse? There's nothing magical about gold that makes it "work" as a currency in an unorganized world. That kind of environment is going to go back to a barter system where things of actual worth are used as the means of trade. Food, ammunition, tools, fuel, etc.

Sure, society might eventually stabilize and reorganize and it might come to view gold as an effective currency, but are you gonna make it that long? Are you planning to bet that gold is the winner? Will your hoarded gold even be worth that much? If society collapses, there will be a lot of gold out there for the taking...having a few of these bars sitting around will be nothing compared to what is sitting around in jewelry stores, institutional holdings, etc--it is not like gold goes bad or is easily destroyed...an ounce of gold could end up being worth very little.

And if society never gets that bad? Well, then your insured gold ETF is probably fine (and really, your plain old currency, property equity, and stock holdings are probably OK too) .

Where can you buy an oz for less with a credit card?
why do you have to use a credit card? curious? Most gold dealers if you pay with bank give you a much better deal.

To add to this, had it been any cheaper I would have had to pay 7.25% to the thieving state of CA. I'm totally fine with this being $1999.99 with no sales tax and able to get cash back and rewards to bring it well below spot.
Isn't it 1500$

Hahaha I love how some of y'all think post society someone with no toilet paper is going to want your soft yellow brick! Spend your money on guns or something useful or hey, enjoy your time on earth since you're obviously not going enjoy post society if gold is your plan.

Is there a website to sell it to? Thinking about buying this next time I need to hit a credit card bonus and just sell it back right away.

You don't have to use a credit card, but using one gives you varying levels of rewards.
