Great product (I have the 12-piece and have been surpringly impressed!) but the sets with more knives and a block are going to be a better deal. Those include the same 8"chef's knife, a bigger universal block/sharpener, and a bunch of other knives (I think I got the 12-piece on sale for about $150).

If you want a quality inexpensive knife that is easy to take care of I would recommend Victorinox

Not dishwasher safe and the whole neverdull block/set has been on SD for $90 recently.

Bad take.

You shouldn't be running your knives in the dishwasher anyway.

Obvious exceptions are prep line knives like Mercer and Victorinox with plastic handles.

This seems like a better option if you're just getting into the neverdull series. 7 piece set for $100 ( only in white though)
