How does this one compare to Bambu series printers?

Even being new I think some folks would rather avoid needing to do upgrades along the way if this has the majority of upgrades already implemented

Personally, no. Especially since the K1 got the new extruder and hot end, the camera is $30, and the lidar is supposedly available eventually if becomes worthwhile. There's a few other small things the Max upgrades but nothing worth double the price to me so I ordered the K1 yesterday. If it was going to be your only printer and you wanted the 300mm bed than that's up to you if that's worth it, but the price difference is also the cost of a good 300mm bed slinger and then you'd have two printers. I started with a Sidewinder X1 because I thought I would need that size but found out two things over my time with that: most pre-made prints online are arranged and uploaded for an Ender 3 bed because it's far, far, far more common than large format. Then even though 11.8" or whatever it is sounds large it actually wasn't big enough for anything that I would need to do that large and in one piece. Decided it was time to move on from my Ender 3 Pros (since it would cost as much to replace them with modern machines as upgrade them) so if the K1 works out I'll probably pair it with something 400mm minimum at that point. Definitely better to get more focused machines that try to get the uber machine if you can.

Depends on your desire/tolerance to tinker or if you just want an appliance. If you want something you just plug in and go and it should print well every time then you spend the $700 and get the Bambu P1. If you care about price more than anything and are willing/desire to tinker there's Ender 3 models, Elegoo Neptunes, and Sovols that are in the $200 realm and will be solid but you're going to need to accept that working on the machine is part of the hobby. The K1 is kind of one of the first attempts to compete in that more appliance space, in theory at least but there were issues at launch and it bombed hard. Those seem to be largely fixed now (unless you get an early run model that's sitting around still) so in theory the K1 should be closer to the appliance side but heavily discounted right now to try and recover it. I wouldn't buy the Max but I would say at $350 the normal K1 could potentially be a great starter printer. Regardless, don't buy your first printer from anywhere you can't return easily (Amazon/Best Buy/Micro Center/etc.) in case you absolutely hate the printer or the hobby or you have an issue (most of these companies have very poor customer service).

General Edit- Oh and Best Buy has the Max for $719 right now (if you can't get them to match Micro Center), $30 more but they have returns until January 16th right now. The reputation of the K1 line seems to be drastically improved recently but I still want the two months to be able to run it and evaluate it myself with no issue returning it if it doesn't work out. Think that would be worth $30 rather than dealing with Creality (who are legendarily bad at customer service).

Is the K1 Max worth the $330 extra from the K1 if you dont need the big bed size?

Better code than F5CJRB? How do you get the 2% with PayPal?

Didn't do anything special; when I went to check out and it showed the payment options, it had a note saying "2% off"... so I used that instead. No code or anything.

F5CJRB is the best code that I know of.

There are cheaper and more popular 3D printers if you're just looking to get started.

If you're just getting into 3d printing this is probably too much printer. The regular k1 has gone on sale under $400 lately (if you have a microcenter nearby). Otherwise at this price point maybe better to get a set and forget bambulabs

The entire point is the larger bed size, if you don't need the large bed size no reason to get the max over the K1!
Also no reason to get an enclosed printer unless you want to print ABS and nylon, and since PLA plus has come out even less of a reason to print ABS or nylon. An enclosed printer just means it is harder to get at components to tune or replace them when the time comes. An ender 3 v3 SE is what I would get if I didn't have the requirements for a enclosure or the large bed size. The SE prints fast for a bed slinger even without Klipper and is only $179.

That true.

All 3D printers need some mod to it just to get a little more convenience.

If you don't print a lot of big parts like helmets and custom cosplay it is not worth it, but it is nice to have when you need it. It all comes down to price.

Consider looking into ELEGOO OrangeStorm Giga: Gigantic Volume Fast FDM 3D Printer on Kickstarter. LOL it is huge 800mm * 800mm * 1000mm Printing Size

For most people (80%) K1 size is more than enough. Can be upgraded with a Camera ($20-30) and hardened steel nozzle ($10 or less). Lidar is a junk gimmick same goes with Bambu.

If you are a beginner and just got into 3D printing and don't want all the hassle of troubleshooting/upgrading BS for little to no major change to print quality or speed, then consider a normal K1 version (not Max).

For those who already own a 3D printer getting K1 MAX would be the best choice.

Probably a NO, not worth it. Normal K1 is the best-case scenario.

Most modern 3D printers have all the need features included these days. The main one beign auto bed leveling. Auto bed leveling is a real game changer and I would not consider a printer without that. Other upgrades are usually done because people like to tinker or people need a higher temp hotend or a direct drive to print more exotic filaments. An Ender 3 V3 SE will work great out of the box with no needed upgrades. I have an Ender 3 NEO and the only upgrade I have installed is a dual axiz Z drive for $30 and a $15 filament runnout sensor which isn't needed at all just a nice to have. You can easily tell if you are going to run out of filament and swap out a roll. I am not sure the dual Z was really needed I just bought it at the same time as the printer and put it on. My Ender 3 Neo has printed flawlessly from the first benchy. 3D printers have come a long way and aren't the PITA maintaince headaches of years ago.
