No, not faster. Not even really slimmer. Wouldn't trade a perfectly good PS5 for a slim for any reason. The "upgraded" Pro model is rumored for 2024.

Not bad, but I don't necessarily see the slim as an upgrade over the OG unless you really want that MW3 code at a good discount. I might do something like this when/if a PS5 Pro comes along though.

Faster? No. Better? Not particularly. Sony did a die shrink to 6nm from 7nm. In turn, the console generates less heat. Probably a bit more efficient power wise too but Im not 100% on that. Sony reengineered the cooling system inside and from what I've seen, they did a good job. The console is also easier to disassemble for cleaning or what not. A 2nd USB C was added on the front. The PS5 case was altered to where about half of it is a glossy plastic that will get scratched to all hell and it is broke down into segments to where you can buy different colored plates to customize the console somewhat. The available internal storage has increased by roughly 150gb though I would still recommend adding a 2tb SSD. In addition, there are the differences with the disc drive as well. I think that pretty much covers it though.

If you already have the standard PS5, you won't be missing anything with this model. If you don't and are trying to figure out whether to buy this or the original, I'd say it comes down to your preferences. Definitely nothing wrong with going with an original versus this though.

Though I can't imagine many people would want to hold onto $400 GS credit while the company is making all the cuts that they are.

No, GS changed the promo conditions. My understanding of the promo yesterday was it was only towards a purchase of a PS5. They changed it either yesterday or today.

Yes. People are posting that they've done it with no purchase of a PS5 and got the $50 extra. Not sure if you are familiar with GS but they aren't the best run company. Most of the time, even employees don't know what promos are going on.

I just checked the website and the promo now just states trading in the console. Requiring you to buy a PS5 is gone from the promo. It's thunderdome at GS.
