Just realized this is the first time this tool has dropped below $100 -- really a sick deal and wish I hadn't just bough the FUEL Impact a couple weeks back with battery and charger (neither of which I really needed)

FYI. Fuel=brushless
Surge=hydraulic impact =quieter

Personally, I wouldn't get SURGE unless noise is an issue. You're losing torque and speed as trade off

I found just about this same a bit ago and compared it to my normal m12 fuel impact and was AMAZED at the difference. People talk about a power trade off, it's not much. In my defense I've got an M18 impact too and never looking to go surge for that reason.

Not a bad price but not even close to the best. I got the fuel surge hex driver kit with battery and charger for $97.69 a few months ago with a hack. The deal listed is for the tool only.

You're right -- I just found that one -- that was definitely a better deal. Technically this is a lower price but would've phrased differently when posting deal had a I found that one with the battery when I posted. Still a very good price for this tool .

Thanks for sharing this -- just went down a hole -- still kinda wish I'd seen this earlier but makes me less upset on pulling the trigger on the FUEL impact a couple weeks back.

Yep, for a lot of uses the newest M12 Gen 3 impact driver is spicy enough to be complete overkill for most home use applications, so it's good you can tone them down a bit.

I've been tempted by the surge because yes - the impact drivers are pretty darn noisy, and no, you probably don't really need that extra power. But if you do fastener work a lot, get one of each and decide what you like, sell the 'loser' if you want or just keep both around for different uses.

I don't really regret getting my Gen 3 impact + hammerdrill combo, especially since it came with one of the newer 5.0 HO batteries, but I think a lot about the noise the impact makes whenever I use it.

Is that the M12 Hammer Drill or the M18 -- I've been needing to get a hammer drill to install some stuff in to concrete which no surprise my installation driver can't handle.

This deal seems to be better than it gets credit for. There was one other deal that was better. Same price but came with a 2.0 battery and charger. Other than that this offer is as good as it got last year. Other similar deals posted last year were rated better. While it isn't nearly as good as some of the other M12 deals, the Surge impact drivers seem to be very well regarded and any kind of discount or deal is good. At $97 it is worth it to me given I often don't use impact drivers at home because of the noise. I'll get one at this price, then wait for a better deal to get a second.

Thanks OP!
