Sure.

People wanting to make pizza should compare it to baking steels. These factory seconds are guaranteed to have a flawless unblemished side. Blemishes on mine are barely detectable even on the "blemished" side. They'll occasionally do some Holiday promos. Got my 16" x 16" x 3/8" for $46 shipped.

Dosa could be made by heating the metal in an oven. I'd still just recommend a baking steel as it has more thermal mass and durability. Doesn't matter if it's in oven, a grill, or thrown in a fire.

It's a piece of cast iron. I'm guessing the reason why they say not for stove top use is because if you're cooking on an open flame, and you're cooking something with oil, it's more likely for the oil to drip over into the flame and and catch fire.

There's no reason you can't cook with this on the stovetop, grill, or anywhere else you'd use cast iron. The company just can't trust people to use common sense when doing so, so it's far easier for them to say that it's not intended for stove top use.

It's almost 10 pounds. That's still a deal for $9, but even better if in-stock at a local store.

I know it says only to be used in oven and many people pointed that out but I have used this on cooktop multiple times to make dosa. Though pain to make it as it's not seasoned enough to give non stick effect but if you can season it properly then you can. Another thing, if you use it on cooktop and add oil to dosa then oil can drop from sides as this is flat, so maybe because of safety reasons they said only oven.
