Looks like a good value stay, but getting here from LAX, SFO or FAT is quite a drive. Flights into SBP are much more limited.

anyone stay here during winter/spring time before, may I ask what we can do during this time? Probably chilly cold at the beachfront, right?

This property used to be my favorite. The location is great and beach side is just a short walk down the stairs. Last time I went around May, the beach was horrible. There were sand bugs all over the beach and beach fly. The experience was so bad that made me doesn't want to go back anymore. Other than that, hotel is good and free breakfast in the morning is a nice one too.

It might be cheap because it's winter and because the southern access road to Big Sur is closed.

Yes it would probably be a bit chilly. Pismo is a very popular location during summer for folks from Bakersfield, riverside, and other hotter climate cities to escape the heat. It's also close to Cal Poly San Luis obisbo

As far as things to do, you could visit Paso Robles for Wine, visit the city of San Luis obisbo for a lively yet quaint walkable city, or visit Oceano Dunes for atving/off road. I think Oceano dunes will be closed to off roading indefinitely soon.

Oceano Dunes is the only place in CA that you drive your car on the beach (I believe). It's $5 for the day. It's wide you can be there all day. March can be warm, but you always bring a sweater/jacket for that area no matter time of year.

You can also go to Morro Bay to see a rock, do some kayaking, whale watching.

For whatever reason, seems like the only dog-friendly rooms included in the Travelzoo deal are 2 queen rooms. Looking at the site of the property itself, they also have 1 King dog friendly rooms available. Maybe those are in higher demand and that's why not in the deal? Too bad... Frown

Beautiful area, drove down from Monterrey to Hearst Castle. Great times.
