Honestly it was better to get the 2021 model with ads during Prime Day for $75. This is not that slick. I hope they run that deal again for BF
also the size different 6" vs 6.8", micro USB vs USB-C
Ahah, what. Woots says: 'Now $54.99 was $249.99', it's an obvious lie.

This seems pretty slick. But I'm hoping for the current edition signature edition. (Bought a case already and want the automatic light adjustments).

This is the 32gb version. Only real difference between the 2021 and 2018 version is warm light adjustments.

That is a huge deal for people like me with sensitive eyes (especially in the dark)

I bought the 2021 version, 6.8" w/ adjustable warm light during Prime October. It was $94.99. I can still return it. Should I return to wait for the $75 deal come back? Was the $75 happened during Summer and with Ads-supported?

I also got it for $95 during prime day. I was watching closely, I didn't ever see $75

Woot Refubished Kindles have been an absolute dumpster fire of an experience for me.

I got a Kindle Oasis refurb -- the battery life with a fresh charge, no wifi, medium brightness was just less than an hour of use. Sent it back, got another one -- and it was less than 45 minutes of runtime.

I know the Oasis has a smaller battery, but 45 minutes of casual use is laughable. When using Wifi, you could literally see the battery indicator drop several percentage points each minute.

I wouldn't ever trust the Woot "refurbishment" process to be anything more than "it turns on, wipe it with a cloth, rebox it!"

$55 is good for a new 2018 Kindle Paperwhite (epecially for a very limited budget), but I'd spend a little more for the upgrading features in 2021 version when it's on sale again for around $100 (possibly in coming BF).

I hopped on one of the last Woot deals which I think was for the 2015 8GB refurbished version for $25 for my wife. It was her first Paperwhite, so she fell in love and still uses it daily. This is a no brainer for me just for the additional storage, small improvements, and new condition (which will hopefully mean better battery life). Thanks OP for the share!

Kindle Paperwhite 2021 8G version had been on sale for around $95 during previous Prime Days and Black Fridays. I bought the 16G version for $105 last year and 16G Kid version with a cover for $109.99 last month. (The Kid version is the same but it comes with a cover).
So, you can assume Kindle Paperwhite 2021 would be priced around $95 or lower during this coming Black Friday.

Kindle Paperwhite 2018 is a solid device. I was crazy about the covers for Paperwhite 2018 and I bought a dozen covers from ebay. If it is $50 instead of $55, I would definitely buy the 32G version. Kindle Paperwhite 2018 does not have warm light. For me to read in dark mode, it makes no different.

If you definitely need the warm light, then go for Kindle Paperwhite 2021.
If you need to save more, you can check the sale price with trade-in option during Black Friday at Amazon.
They even accept old Fire TV stick, echo device for $5 trade in value and a 20% credit toward purchase a new Kindle or Fire Tablet.
