You have no idea how hard that is and what kind of skills you need to have in order to pull it off.

That's really bad sales technique.
I don't want to be bothered with doing it, but I do think you have to have skills to keep it up.

I don't disagree, your way of handling it is better, but I think the tart that comes across in typing is being downplayed by the personality of the folks saying it, and the people they're saying it to. Most of these people also know they have more potential customers than product, so if one really doesn't come back, they're not losing anything.

I believe I've said it before, my favorite comeback was always that even if the store's price was the same as mine (which I knew it wasn't - mine was lower) they would still have to pay sales tax at the store.
Yes, this is a great comeback.

It's a shrinking market. I don't advertise the sale (that causes all sorts of problems) and people don't tell their friends (because they don't want the competition over products) so you'll gain the occasional customer who comes to your sale by chance but people drop out all of the time (once they have a 10 year supply of Tide lol). People also cherry pick. They know what's hot and what's not. You'll get stuck with the products that aren't hot (which is where most of your profit is) and sell the low or no profit items (like detergent).
I don't want to do what you're doing, but maybe you should try to have a sale where you only invite new people, and change the dynamics so you become more of a driver in what is sold. Since you currently do your sales on Saturdays, do one for a new group before you start them back up, then do your Saturday sale with whatever is left over.

I know locally, I see people only offering 'bundles'. So you can't buy 10 Tide and nothing else from them. To get the Tide, you also have to buy other things. I am in a local FB group where some people sell these bundles. When someone pushes to just get a particular item out of the bundle, that item is priced just a tiny bit below the Walmart price.

Last week I got a magic $2 ecb on all of my cards. I loaded it and used it this morning. When I got home, it said that $5 was available to send to my card. $3 from the gift set and another $2 magic on every card. However, after I sent the $3 and $2 to my card, the $2 doesn't show up as being clipped like it did last week. When I try to use it next Sunday, will it be on my card? I saved the paper $2 just in case. I tossed the $3 after I loaded it. Was that a mistake? Thanks in advance.
If this happened to me, I would close my app and reopen it. If I still didn't see the $2, I would unlink my card from the app, close the app, clear my cache on my phone and relink my card. If that didn't result in me seeing the $2, I'd probably do all of the same and then turn off my phone, turn it on and repeat the process.

CVS' app is always questionable for some reason or another.

I can't explain it without confusing myself but I'll try and I hope it makes sense. I loaded the $3 and $2 to my card. It says that I have $5 loaded but only the $3 shows up on my coupon list. I'm wondering if when I go to use the $2 if it will show up on my card or if only the $3 one will. I kept the paper $2 just in case. I would go test it out right now but I can't use the $2 until next Sunday if I want it to keep on rolling (there's no guarantee that it will but it's my best chance of that happening). One of my theories is out the window. I thought that the extra extra bucks had something to do with the card being inactive for a certain period of time but that's obviously not the case since these are new cards. I'm also getting crt's for the first time now and $4 every week. Maybe CVS likes me again.

I went back to the Wags where I messed up and they aren't mad at me. I thought that they might kick me out when they saw me walk in lol. I'm going to run down there in a few minutes. I think I figured out something. It's not a great deal and you probably wouldn't do it but it works for my purposes. I wish that I had a $7 cat because it would make the deal so much better. I do have RR's to pay with so I shouldn't have very much if any cash oop. If it's anything to brag about I'll post it when I come back.

Here's the Wags deal but it's nothing special

1 Gain 88 oz $9.99 - $3 dq
1 Gain Flings 31 ct $9.99 - $3 dq
2 Old Spice bodywash $13 - $5/2 dq
2 Garnier Fructis $8 - $3/2 dq
= $26.98
Get $10 W Cash + $5 + $4 + $3
Cost is $4.98

If you have RR's from last week you can use them to pay. My oop tonight on
3 transactions was just sales tax. If you have a 7/40 cat the deal is a mm but
I had no such luck. Still, it's all useful stuff for less than a Charburger at The Habit.

I missed hearing the Christmas music this year. All we got was the RSV commercial 24/7. That's all they played at every store that I went to. Over and over again. I'd like 5 minutes alone with that CEO. I wouldn't beat him up although I'd really like to. I'd do something much worse. I'd make him listen to the RSV commercial 5000 times in a row. Then he'd see what he put us through.

I went to McDonald's on my way home and they were giving out a card for a free combo of your choice on your next visit. I don't know if it's a local thing or a nationwide promo. I'm still hungry so I might go back and see if I can get another card.

Edit: I went back and got another card. The line for the drive thru was down the block so I parked in the lot and went in and I was out in a couple of minutes. I just wish that I liked McDonald's food.

I was never able to find any jelly beans for Christmas and I looked everywhere. They were all over the place last year. I wonder what genius made the decision that this was an off year for jelly beans. I'd like for him to come on here and explain himself.

I looked at the new Vons ad and they're going to 3 days for the $5 sale rather than just Friday. That's an awesome change. I hope that it's not just a onetime thing. The 10/10 sale used to be pretty good but they keep on taking all of the good things out of it. If Vons would lower their ridiculously high clearance bakery prices then I'd be happy with them again. In a lot of cases, the clearance price is higher than the $5 Friday sale price for the item. It's very annoying. The prices on clearance went up after the CEO made a visit to the stores here. Honestly, they should fire the guy if he's that stupid. Let's take the 4-pack of muffins. Vons muffins are fair at best. They're certainly not to die for. They're priced at $6.99 now. Not too long ago you could get them 2 for $5 when they were on sale. Ok, so everything has gone up. Before the CEO came in, the clearance price was $2.99. That's not super cheap but it's fair. Now it's $4.99. That's a total rip-off. It should be embarrassing for Vons to price their clearance items like that. I realize that they want to give the clearance stuff to the homeless people so that they can make money on it as a tax write off and I don't have a problem with that but then eliminate the clearance cart and stop ripping your paying customers off. I'm getting all worked up just typing this. It really pisses me off.

I was going to reply to you with this exact comment before I got to the end of your post and saw that you have the same thought. This is the conclusion I came to years ago. I believe it's the main reason store-made bakery is priced so high to begin with and why they bake soooooooo much more than they can ever possibly sell - they donate the excess and take a write off at full price. And personally, even though I'm not a great baker, I have never found store stuff to be anything to write home about, lol.

I, too, have no problem with excess going to folks in need but it seems to me that there is always so much of it - where I used to live there was a store that had carts and carts of it lined near the exit doors waiting to be picked up by groups.

It was nice to have a little perk when I came in in the morning. I'd go over to the clearance cart and see what they had. It probably was a reason for other people to come in, too. Yeah, the donation thing is a scam. It just shows what a dirtbag the CEO is because he ordered them to do it. This is an extremely busy Vons. It used to be a Pavilions and it's always packed. They don't need the few cents they make by ripping off the government. They could do something nice for their customers instead.

The large cake slice here (regular $5 something now) had been clearance tagged at $1.99 for a very long time. Since we can make one of those large slices last two or three days, and it's the perfect amount of sweet for the evening, that was an ok price. Then awhile back, they were tagged $2.99 and I quit buying them at that price. When I was in before Christmas, I saw they had tagged them at $1.99 again, but I didn't buy any because we had enough sweets at home.

But I also think SOME of the clearance tagging is just the whim of the employees, because at least several times there have been the exact products with the exact sell by date marked with two different tags. Either that or an employee put the wrong tag on an item and didn't fix it.

Wags has Gillette, Venus, and Shick gift sets for $4. Soap & Glory is $16 for the $40 one. The blue Squishmallows are $10. I got two 7/40's this morning. I'm not saying to run but at the last store I was at I got 30 of the Venus, Gillette, and Schick. They aren't priced yet (at least here) so you have to know what's up. Walmart was a waste of time. Already picked over at 6:10am.

Most things were $1.99 here until the CEO came in. I saw him in the store so I know that he was there. The next day the price went up to $4.99. I asked the bakery head about it and she said that it was because of the CEO and they didn't have a choice about it. The guy is a blank plain and simple. I hope that when Vons and Ralphs merge that he doesn't end up running the company. Ralphs is already bad enough without that blank in charge.

I corrected my language. I don't want to get a warning because of what I said about the CEO. He's not worth it. He's not even worth the $1.99 clearance price on the stale muffins.

Just ran across this article; might provide some ideas for what someone may want to watch on Hulu. It's titled the 71 Best TV Shows on Hulu Right Now and is quite recent.
