Bath & Body Works still has a selected items for 75% off available and they're not all Christmas fragrances. If you have the 20% off coupon it will work on these items as well.

If you're a World Market shopper, you'll be surprised at how much Christmas inventory they have on their shelves. I was surprised! It's 75% off. I'm hoping that it will go 90% in a few days, then it will be worth my journey. I'll call before I head out.

The continual snowstorms, icy winds, and cold temperatures hasve made going out too difficult.
I need more B&BW and Christmas like I need ten more holes in my head, but I have to agree the cold kept me in today. Hopefully tomorrow we'll rise above freezing and the roads will be dry.

I actually have 20 holes in my head. They had them on sale and I couldn't resist.

Back in my book days, I used to go to World Market all of the time for bookshelves. The quality was great and they were super cheap. You can't ask for more than that.

DG is in the middle of nowhere. You really would have to want to go there and then you'd have to turn around and go home because there aren't any other good places to shop for 30 miles. You have to drive through a windy canyon to get there and it can be very dangerous at night so you'd want to go in the daytime. You can avoid the canyon but it would be a lot of extra driving. I didn't see anything there when I went that would make me want to come back and I didn't like that I had to bring in my phone to use my dq's.

I live in the land of Dollar General. There are literally 5 stores within 10 miles of where I live. If they clear a lot in the county, chances are it will be a Dollar General.

I was looking for articles about coupons online and I came across this in Retail Wire

Coupon distribution has declined over the years due in part to drops in newspaper circulation, but redemption rates have also shrunk. A 2019 study from Harvard University, Georgetown University and Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf attributed the lower redemption rates in large part to busy two-worker households opting to forego coupon hunting for small savings.

Recently speaking to The New York Times, Sanjay Dhar, a marketing professor at the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business, said he believes part of the reduced redemption rates is because older shoppers on fixed incomes seeking coupons are challenged finding them online. He said, "A lot of this isn't driven by the response to coupons. It's driven by coupons not reaching the right people."

So coupon fraud isn't causing companies to lose astronomical amounts of money. Coupon redemption is actually down. I think it's more that the companies don't want to give old people coupons because they're going to die soon and it doesn't make sense to give them promotional offers.

I went to Vons this morning on my bagel run and they raised the price 30 cents to $1.27. That takes them out of the discount category and puts them in competition with NY Deli, Western Bagel, Noah's Bagels, Panera, and the local bagel stores. Vons is going to lose this contest. NY Deli is probably the best and if you do the 50% off after 5pm special then they are also the cheapest. Unfortunately, they are way too far away from me. The only possibility is Panera and CVS has a 15/50 gift card deal going on this week. If you factor in the discount, Panera and Vons are roughly the same price. I guess that I'm going to Panera from now on. Since the main reason that I go to Vons is for bagels, they just lost me as a regular customer. I'll go to Walmart for groceries. They're much cheaper. I don't get any good J4U offers these days and I hate having to do the email verification thing every time I want to access my account.

Have you done the baker's dozen Tuesday deal at Panera? Slice them and then freeze what you wont eat by Wednesday Noon. They thaw and toast well after freezing IMO.

Yes!! I used to do it all of the time. How much is it now? It was either $8 or $9 the last time I went which means that it's probably $20 now. Don't laugh, that's what Western charges and they're always crowded.

Chatting about bakery, I want to mention an app I recently came across, called Too Good To Go. It connects interested customers with businesses who have food they might otherwise trash. You do have to use the app, and some of the pickups are not at convenient times for me. Locally, we have a FB page where people show pictures of what they got and share experiences about their pickups. Not all food is bakery goods. In our area, there's also donuts, tacos, whole meals, etc.

Quick question. Can I get tested for covid if I go into a Wags or CVS at the pharmacy? I'm having heart symptoms but I've been exposed to two people with covid so I'd like to make sure that I don't have it. I have chest pain, shortness of breath, and a very bad headache. All of these are typical for me because of my heart but the chest pain is to the point that I can't do any exercise at all without being in pain. I don't have any of the other covid symptoms just these three. I'm wondering if I should get tested. I've never had covid and I've been tested a lot of times due to my medical situation. It would be great if I could get tested at the Wags pharmacy. If not, do you know where I can go to get tested? I guess I can buy a test but I'm so lame that I'll screw it up. I don't want to go to a clinic because they'll do an EKG and it always shows that I'm in A-fib and critical. I don't want to spend the weekend in the hospital unless I have covid then I would go in immediately.

I started off by calling up Wags and got put on hold for 15 minutes so I drove down there. I figured that I could do some shopping while I waited for the results of my test. However, they wouldn't give me a test. All they would do is sell me the test kit for $20. No thanks. I did have a great shopping trip, though. I called up an urgent care clinic and they wanted $30 to do the test so I passed on that. I ended up going to my health care provider. They have a small local office that's an hour away from where I usually go. I called them up earlier and they said that they were all booked up for the day but I figured that I'd give it a try anyway. They were awesome. All I wanted was the covid test but I got to see a doctor and she did an EKG on me. The covid test was negative and my EKG was the same as it was in September. My blood pressure was fine but my heart rate was very low. The doctor wanted me to go to the ER immediately and I asked if they were going to admit me and she said yes. I told her that I didn't want to drive an hour to the hospital that I always go to and she said oh no, you need to go to the closest hospital right now and it really should be by ambulance. Obviously, I didn't do what she said. I've been there, done that too many times. They'll keep me over the weekend, do a million tests, and go home no better or worse than I was before I came in. At least I know that I don't have covid. I'll sleep on going to the ER. I know that the doctor is right and I should go but I don't want to. I've had enough of hospitals (no offense to all of the great people who work there). I'll see how I feel in the morning.

Well, if we're taking a poll, I vote with the doctor, you should go to the ER.

She wanted to do a troponin test which is where they get your initial level and then test it 6 hours later and look for any changes. Because of the time of day (2pm), they couldn't do it at their lab and she wanted me to go to the ER now rather than tomorrow morning. The troponin level indicates if I could've had a heart attack. Usually, there is no troponin found in the blood. I'm thinking that since my EKG now is the same as September that my chest pain isn't necessarily heart pain. The only way to confirm that is with a hospital stay and a bunch of tests and I'm just not up for it. I've done this too many times and it's always the same thing. I leave no better than when I came in.
