Is there a washer/ dryer buying "season"? Ive never had the luxury of needing a new one but not desperately needing a new set, it's always been crisis mode until now.

I am also taking recommendations. I want stackable. I like my LGs well enough, but they have hardly been problem free. The upshot is, I could self solve all issues thus far so as far as problematic appliances go, it's not *that* bad.

I've never had the luxury of picking a new set just because, so I don't know. I love my current, not fancy, might be called old washer and dryer. I know it's too much to expect, as I hope to live a healthy active life for another 25 - 35 years, but I'd love for them to out live me.

I'll be interested to read others perspectives, though I wouldn't want stackable myself, unless we unexpectedly downsize and it's a 'must'.

Mine have lots of issues, though extremely frustrating at times it isnt so bad that I cant wait to replace. Rust, but not in areas that affect clothing. For years now I have to do hard restarts often, I have to manually hold the washer door shut so it can start and sometimes it holds my clothes hostage for a bit until I have restarted and stopped it (sometimes several times). I live in an area with bad water and I was hoping that once our new water plant was completed that there would be less sand in the water. I figured less contaminants in the water might mean longer lasting appliances that use water so I was trying to hold out for that. It finally happened so now I am in the market. While I can do all the necessary workarounds without too much issue, it's embarrassing when we have guests and they try to use the washer/ dryer. LOL

Do you think it's because they are stackables? I have had so many friends tell me 'never again' if they can help it, regarding front load washers.

Personally, I'd rather stack my coupons than stack my wash machine and dryer.

No, Mainly because the washer had some of these issues before we bought the dryer that would stack so it functioned as a side by side (with my nice 70's avocado green dryer) for it's first few years.

I think most people's complaints with the front loading washers is that mildew smell if you keep the door closed. My set up is such that I can keep my door open so that isnt an issue for me. And I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how dry the clothes come out of the washer. For me, until the top loaders can do that, I wont switch back.

Gotcha. My set up wouldn't allow for the door to stay open all the time, and if it did that would freak my ocd completely out.

as far as LG's, sometimes when Sam's Club has their monthly book, you can catch a good sale or very YMMV if you can catch one that they put on clearance.
if you are looking for the whirlpool family, they have an "inside pass" you can sign up for. there are some decent deals there.
other brands probably have something similar to the "inside pass", but i don't have access to those.

I was in my local RA that is not closing, yet. I'd say, overall about 1/3 of the store had bare shelves from inventory issues. I used to find good clearance items in this store, all of the clearance tags are gone.

LOL I literally ask my husband why he hates me when he accidentally leaves a cabinet door open too long , so I get it. My washer/ dryer are in a laundry room and not easily seen from elsewhere so, though I have never thought about it, I guess that's why I can be ok with that.

Thank you. We are a Costco family and I know they do good sales too because I see them front paged sometimes. I guess I will just start researching a few I like and then watch for sales.

I looked at this week's RA ad and I didn't see one good deal. Maybe there's something monthly but that ad is not going to get anybody into the store. CVS has a few good deals but only if you have the SL card that they talk about on the other site. I have the CL card (crap load) and I don't do Ibotta. There's nothing for me at CVS. Wags went full-on Ibotta with Dove and Nivea this week. The P&G items are all sold out. Wags is the only place where you can still get a good deal without Ibotta. I hope that they don't go over to the dark side and change.

RA website is down, and according to www.isitdownrightnow.com has been down for over 4 hours. May not be any big deal, but I'm feeling thankful that for the first time in years I have no BC and am planning a break. I was going to see if I could get my account straightened out so that I can do pick-up orders if I want to in the future, but thinking right now may not be a good time to call.

Funny you say that. Yesterday, the Safeway site wasn't down, but it was at least very ill. Neither the website or app worked for approximately 12 hours yesterday.

The RA website is super slow but it's working. I was able to pull up next week's ad.

The Seattle Public Library computer system has been mostly offline for a few days, too. I hope these aren't all connected. If there's a newly discovered vulnerability that's being exploited, they'll probably try to keep it quiet until there's a fix, but if it's already gone on long enough that we're noticing a rash of problems, that doesn't seem to be happening quickly. I saw somewhere that the library's problem was a ransomware attack, and they won't pay, but I don't remember whether it seemed like a reliable source or just gossip.

Yeah, I saw it was back up according to the isitdown site, but it seemed only sorta up. I wasn't able to log on. Kept getting a connection error, try again later message. I tried again just now, and it seems back to normal. But I'm on a RA break, and it's not urgent at all! It's still sinking in. Today I just deleted email from them without even checking to make sure it didn't include a coupon.
