I don't know. My uncle lived in he H-wood HIlls (not rich, he built houses there, having bought "unbuildable lots" in the 60s and kept the last one). He'd drive out there once a week, take stuff to my mom. Reusable bags were a new idea and when I admired his when visiting, he got one for me.

I don't remember going to Pasadena much, my sister got into a cult that either started or had a campus there & I visited a couple of times, then they went to Malibu and then a tiny community in Montana, near Yellowstone's north gate. And there she remains, in a (much worse) Qult IMHO.

But it's been used a LOT, it would be a rag if it was made like modern ones. I think I was able to soak out a stain it got years ago, but it might not be completely removed.
So I guess I won't worry about being mobbed when I take it shopping LOL
The Bosch show on Amazon is set in the Hollywood Hills. I was in an Uber coming home from Anaheim a few months ago and I think I could see the Bosch house from the freeway (but maybe not). It has all glass windows and an amazing view. The coolest thing is that he has a turntable with a tube amp and plays Art Pepper. I'm a huge Michael Connelly fan but I wasn't blown away by the tv show. I couldn't live in the Hollywood Hills. The drive is too crazy with those narrow streets and blind curves. It's a big production just to go to Starbucks or 7-11. I'm also not hip enough to live there. Or rich enough lol. The best view of Los Angeles that I've seen is if you drive up Plummer in the Valley to the Boeing nuclear plant (that doesn't exist) on top of the hill in Simi Valley. I wouldn't advise getting out of your car unless you want to start glowing. When you turn around and start driving back down the hill the view is out of this world. You'll have to stop and just sit there. You'll also notice that everything around you is a different color that doesn't exist in nature. I wonder why. Oh yeah, there's no nuclear plant and there was never a nuclear accident that was worse than 3 Mile Island.

What kind of spiders? That would be a trip killer for me. I'd love to meet Bullwinkle but I hear that he's gigantic in person. I've been to Yosemite once as a kid (I had so much fun) and when I got older I would go backpacking in Sequoia, King's Canyon, and Mineral King. My longest backpacking trip was cross-country from Giant Forest in Sequoia to Mt Whitney and out at Mineral King. Then we had to hitchhike 50 miles back to our car.

There's a unique smell to the H-wood hills, I guess maybe orange blossoms? It gets quite heady at night. He lived on Ledgewood, I could walk (UP) 2 blocks and be on Mullholland drive, then walk down a path to the dam/Lake Hollywood.

My parents lived near Dodger stadium and their house had been modified to accomdate my mom's wheelchair so no doors shut right and there wasn't privacy, even to get dressed or shower. It was better at Uncle Manfred's - even though he didn't allow meat in the house LOL

My visits down there were less than fun.

My grandmother lived lower down, off Franklin so the area is somewhat nostalgic. Used to play hopscotch on the Walk of Fame, late at night when my dad would take my sister and I out to burn off some energy before going to bed.

As I remember, the spiders were just run-of-the-mill house type spiders (small bodies with fine legs), though I really don't know much about spiders. I do know they were not those huge black bodied spiders; those would be a deal breaker for me as I figure they bite though not sure they do. We did kill as many as we saw and thankfully we didn't see any in the bed. And yes, the moose are quite big up close. My guess is that you would have seen wild life on your hikes.

I went to Yosemite when I was in 5th or 6th grade and I still have vivid memories of the trip. The highlights were the waterfall with the mist, being chased by a bear, and playing spin the bottle. I went to a private school and they took us to Yosemite for a field trip. I forget how long we stayed. It probably was 3 or 4 days.

I've had a bear right next to me, I've stepped on a hornet's nest, and I've seen many rattlesnakes and scorpions. I've also had a giant tree fall down and barely miss my tent.

I saw a lot of Dodger games when I was in high school. I even saw a Dodgers/Giants game at Candlestick Park with Willie Mays. Candlestick Park was so weird. It would be nice and warm in one spot and you'd move a few feet and it was freezing and windy. I don't know much about the area around Dodger Stadium or the Hollywood Hills. I used to go to The Grove a lot and I'd drive thru Hollywood to get there. The Kmart across from The Grove was a fantastic place to shop but it was in a very sketchy area. The CVS in the same shopping center had two armed security guards and there was always something going on.

I almost got hit this morning on my walk. I was on my way to Vons and got the green light at the intersection and started walking. A car was making a right turn and instead of stopping at his red light, he kept on going and tried to drive around me. It was really close. One more step and he would've hit me. I could see his face thru the passenger window. Kid in his early 20's. He didn't have the oh shit, I'm sorry look. It was I'm late for work, wtf are you doing in the crosswalk look. When you're on foot, you get a totally different perspective than when you're driving a car or on a bicycle. Pedestrians have the right of way but nobody cares. The worst are the motorized scooters and bicycles. They go 30mph on the sidewalk even when there's a bike path. They don't care if they hit little old ladies and mothers with strollers. They think it's your responsibility to get out of their way. They'll come up right behind you and brush right by you without honking or anything. It's very unnerving. I broke my hip a few years ago and it's very difficult for me to walk in a straight line. I could easily swerve into the scooter and never know he was there until he hit me.

Yes, too many people don't about pedestrians, I agree. When I go to the grocery store and am walking in from my car, I try to always step into the pedestrian crosswalk marked space to cross the driveway. I figure at least if they hit me there, it is pretty obvious they are in the wrong. Yesterday this guy in a car treated me like I was scum for crossing in front of him, like I saw him coming and should have stood in the heat waiting on him to pass through!

norcal forecast (on my laptop) says it's going to be hot through mid November!!
I was looking for a good time to turn on the oven and do some baking, but it looks like it was last week when we had one day 69 degrees.

Red hot deal at Vons this morning. FREE Starbucks Cold Brew coffee 11oz with J4U. I didn't see a display this time and it's not in the Starbucks aisle. I found it with the specialty beverages below Monster near the back end of the aisle (tagged for the 4/4 but not the free offer). My store had very limited stock so it's a run deal if you want it (or maybe the night shift hadn't put out the display yet). The cashiers couldn't find it so I took them back there so that they could get it. Last week they found something for me that I looked all over for. It was the Celsius Energy drink. I still can't find it lol. She went back there and got one for me. Not that I want most of the free drinks. It's fun to get them and then give them away to people who do like them. I may try the Vanilla Starbucks one. I wonder if the free item still counts as part of the 4/4. Usually, I would be excited about this but the 4/4 isn't very good this week.
