Genuine question here - I only use my home PC for boring dad stuff now - but having a laptop for work makes me give second thoughts to getting a laptop for home when I do upgrade. Meaning, it might not make sense to get a desktop for home if I don't really anticipate upgrading it, since I don't use it for anything flashy. I've never really thought I'd need to grab the desktop and move it anywhere either.

Costco has i9 lenovo for 1300. I am torn between these two for display vs battery.

Just my personal opinion, and some will disagree.... but for a 4060 I'd rather have 1080p. I'd rather be able to drive the display to near max refresh to get lower latency and higher frames. I think 1080 looks fine at 16 inches too. On the other hand, I'm more comfortable with lenovo products in general.

If you don't do any "pro" level stuff like video editing, photoshop/design work or virtualization, the laptop is going to be the much better choice, especially if you are a dad and might be forced to get stuff done at the library or in another room.

The main benefit of a desktop beyond upgrading is that it can handle the heat of all the components much better and will end up lasting significantly longer if you are pushing your machine with demanding workloads (especially gaming).

You'd have to be a total chump to buy this at this price. On this website right now there are 4070 laptops at this price and 4080 laptops for just $300 more.

There is some value to a 90-day walkin return policy, and the additional 1yr warranty. But for me (well, my wife - who will never play a game on it), what caught my eye is the thunderbolt port, and all the usb ports are 3.2. The card reader will be useful as well. From what I could find, the 4070 is about 10% faster than a 4060 until you get into games that push it, then it jumps up a little more. BTW, these are selling pretty quickly in-store. Think we will pick one up for the wife today.
