WARNING CONSUMERS:
Pixel 8 Pro owners complain about display bumps

TLDR: Doesn't look like display bumps are a real issue and are only visible with the screen is off. They have no functional impact (according to google)

So at the end of the day I am sticking with Verizon anyways, so I opted for the Vendor deal, I am paying ~$10 extra a month for the phone (I opted for the 256GB @ $1056 full retail, $44 per month minus $33 per month credit) and $5 for the watch which is going to cost me a total of $360, much less than I would have paid for the phone alone buying directly from Google.
Am I missing something here? Is buying unlocked really worth spending $500+ more? Worth noting that Google offered me $240 trade-in for the phone and Best Buy offered me $70, but I am not sure if either would have taken a phone with a charging port on the fritz.

It sounds like if you weren't planning to change services anyway you definitely got a great deal being able to trade in your old phone with issues for 800!
I'd like to do that but Verizon coverage isn't as good as Tmo or ATT in my area so it's not even really an option for me. And as for buying unlocked phones, personally I like having an unlocked phone for times I travel to other countries and want to simply buy a local sim card for use instead of having to pay the overcharges from my service here. Also I could try or switch different providers depending on where I live or visit. It's just nice to not be locked to a specific service. If you never plan to change anyway might as well take advantage of their deals to keep you on their service!

Their processing doesn't need all those pixels. It's not capturing 'additional' data. That's not physically possible because of the sensor size. Their trick is to take several photos quickly and combine them.
my pixel 2 took incredible photos. all subsequent budget phones have taken WORSE photos than that pixel 2. only their flagships have taken better photos, and it's very arguable considering you're looking at these photos on a 6" screen. Who cares about all that resolution?
The pixels are binned by default so I can't see how they are selling you more storage by increasing megapixels.
So much horror stories at r/googlepixel

ATT prepaid gets virtually the same service as ATT postpaid and is $25 a month for 16GB and unlimited low speed data after that.
Even if you were just locked in for a single year (you're locked in longer than that), that's a $900 difference which pays for a P8P and a used Pixel Watch that everyone's selling and isn't worth half its retail value. Add another year, and you've blown two grand.
Big monthly phone plans are insane, and they dupe people into thinking they're winning by giving them "free" stuff. If they didn't make money on you as a customer with these offers, the offers wouldn't exist... Think about it.

If I want to upgrade Pixel 6 at T-mobile, TIV is 75 ??? yes, they hate me being on Simple Choice but I am not upgrading to Go5G.
Is it worth the extra cost to go with 512GB of memory or is 256GB of memory enough?

i've been on the pixel subreddit since day 1 and the copium is truly pathetic. every release it's the same damn issues and every release it's the same damned posts and every update it's the same damned complaints. and every release, they celebrate the release of a new phone, regardless of the price or performance.
i hope the world wakes up soon and learns that phones have been essentially the same for the past 10 years. they ran out of ideas so theyre just increasing the price and charging us exorbitant amounts on services to keep their shitty phones usable like storage services. let's not forget these ridiculous sensors that clearly are not producing images at the megapixels they're advertised at, but surely they take up incredible amount of space just so you can pay more for storage on a monthly basis. i can go on but honestly, apple has never looked so appealing to me, and i've been on android the entire time.
Or are you just here to r/rant about technology because they aren't releasing perfect consumer goods? Do we all need a lesson again about Thomas Edison inventing a light bulb that lasts forever (Centential Light) And here we are replacing incandescent and LED's with frequency.

Including my google drive stuff for personal/work/etc my phone settings, photos, videos, contacts, etc. since my Pixel 4, I've used 900gb of the 2TB.
