I got this set last year, it's trash. Don't waste your money. 1. It doesn't hold a lot, so you have to refill it often. 2. It eats a lot of batteries. 3. The battery holder is flawed. It's basically a thin wrap of plastic that weakens and then the batteries move and loose connection and you end up having to open it and put the batteries back. In the end we had to wrap tape around them to hold them in place. In less then 6 months, the glass cracked and the light no longer worked. Waste of money.

I have the Sur La table rechargeable set which I would assume is similar in grinding mechanism to these. I have no complaints after 2 years of usage.

Can you use them manually if the batteries are dead? It would be neat if using them manually would actually charge the battery kind of like those crank flashlights...Million dollar idea? Big Grin

I had something similar and it used EIGHT freaking AAA batteries. The capacity was similar, very small like 6 ounces. Would not recommend.

No. They have a push button mechanism. When they're dead they're dead.

Aldi has same thing for $15. Look identical, just don't have the name printed, and use 6xAAA each (included with Aldi) instead of 4xAA each.

I bought a 4 dollar electric pepper grinder from AliExpress and it's been great. I've found that it's much better than manual grinding because you can get a nice even layer on things like steak. When I used the manual grind it just went all over the place.

You don't recommend this product based on your experience with a different product? That's like saying don't date Freida because Joanne cheats.

I would not pay $20+ unless they are the gravity type motorized ones

Maybe this is just a white label product? Same design, different label.

Pro tip: instead of the puny motor that eats batteries for breakfast use a drill connected to the shaft if you need bigger quantities.
