Playstation VR2 Bundle with Horizon Call of the Mountain game on sale at Dell for $499.99 (down from $599.99). Have been tracking this for deals the last couple of weeks and haven't seen it on sale excepted for Prime Day where it was about $10 higher

PSVR2 is nice in that it uses the high power of a PS5 to run games, and has the highest quality, most "feature length" games. If you want the absolute best version of VR Games (not mixed reality) without a PC, this is the way to go. Resident Evil 8, Gran Turismo.. Both in VR are incredible and highly recommended.
With that said, even $500 is a lot for what it is. PSVR1 games need to be updated to be used on PSVR2, which many have not been. Passthrough is better than Quest2, but still Black and White (so no mixed reality) and the toughest point for me is it's tethered to a PS5.
If you ever use a Quest 3 or other wireless headset, you'll hate the wired headset.
It is comfortable, games are high-quality and better than most I've found on other platforms. If you want the best quality of full-length games, this is the way to go (besides PCVR). For convenience, Quest 3 is the total winner. Mixed reality? Quest 3. Even streaming PCVR to a headset.. probably Quest 3. But if you have a PS5 and want the best versions of games without a PC, this is it. Some upcoming games like Resident Evil 4 should also be nice, and fortunately most have been via free patch versus a re-buy

Im in the same boat - with a 9 year old boy.. Tentacular was a day one purchase. Will likely grab the "Moss" collection that is on sale now.
I have not received my headset yet however.
Will likely get beat saber also.
I can message you in a day or two and let you know how these games are received by him.
