For people like me who were wondering how many monitors can this drive:
Mac mini (2023) with M2 Pro chip supports up to three external displays simultaneously, depending on the resolution (up to 8K) and refresh rate (up to 240Hz) of each external display.

One external display
Supports one external display in any one of these configurations:
One display up to 8K at 60Hz (or 4K at 240Hz) over HDMI
One display up to 6K at 60Hz over Thunderbolt

Two external displays
Supports two external displays in any one of these configurations:
Two displays up to 6K at 60Hz over Thunderbolt
One display up to 6K at 60Hz over Thunderbolt, and one display up to 4K at 144Hz over HDMI

It basically means the system memory (RAM), 16 GB in this case, is shared between the central processor (cpu) and the graphics processor (gpu). In a traditional computer, the cpu and gpu would typically have their own dedicated RAM to access and are walled off from one another. With Apple's M chip, the cpu and gpu share the same pool of RAM.

I bet apple will skip the m3 model for this like they skipped the m2 model for the iMac since it was updated recently

I just checked my local micro center and there is just cases / cables under the Apple section of the open box section of their website.
At the price you have shared (if the specs are the same as this deal) I'd pull the trigger.

Ya I was surprised to see them update the Mac mini and not the iMac. I assume they did that because they had extra m2 pro chips and decided to just refresh the whole Mac mini line. But I agree probs no m3 Mac mini

Another thing to consider when comparing the M2 Pro in this model with a future hypothetical M3 Pro model, they actually reduced the number of performance cpu cores, gpu cores, and memory bandwidth in the M3 Pro compared with the M2 Pro, so performance gains are much more modest than M2 > M3 or M2 Max > M3 Max.
