It was at that price at Costco in store only for a while. Amazing deal
Yep, got one as well. It's fast and I like the fact it has a lot of RAM standard. It was an instant buy when I saw it. Only thing I don't like is that the fan runs pretty much all the time, although pretty quietly. I have an M1 mini I use as a server for surveillance cameras and the fan is off 99% of the time.

That's the price of 2, regular Mac mini (8gb ram and 256gb) with EDU discount. Not worth it.
Once you start upgrading the Mac Mini based on what Apple charges, the value decline significantly. I rather get a refurbished 14" MacBook Pro with M1Pro or M2Pro processor for a little more. 14" M1 Pro, 16gb/512gb can be had for $1100 and the 14" M2 Pro 16gb/512gb for $1400. You got a keyboard/trackpad/monitor and it's portable.

Where can you get a refurbished 14" m1 macbook pro for $1100?
The person said similar price. You do realize the Mac Mini does not include a keyboard, mouse or trackpad or monitor? So yes, you can find MBP14 M1 Pro for $1300, and a usable Mac Mini Pro with monitor, keyboard and mouse will be at least that.

Can someone please explain what "unified" means when describing the memory? Thank you.

I bet M1 Max studio for $1000 still better than this m2 mini pro, right??
I would prefer the Studio becuase you can tuck away an SDcard in the slot to use as extra storage similar to a 2nd hard drive. For the mini's, you need a dongle hanging off the rear.

This is a decent deal for 16GB /512Gb, which is absolute minimal for many people.

Is price difference worth it over the regular M2 version?

It's Apple's new name for very old tech where the graphics system uses part of your system RAM.

Google not working on your computer or phone?

I'll look it up for you by Googling "mac unified memory":

It basically means the system memory (RAM), 16 GB in this case, is shared between the central processor (cpu) and the graphics processor (gpu). In a traditional computer, the cpu and gpu would typically have their own dedicated RAM to access and are walled off from one another. With Apple's M chip, the cpu and gpu share the same pool of RAM.

Here's an article that explains how that works:
