Series 8 and Series 9 are pretty similar. The main diff between the Series 8 and Series 9 is that it finally has a new processor (series 6 thru 8 all had the same processor), so the Series 9 will be a little faster. They specifically note that using Siri is faster.
The Series 9 also can be activated by tapping your finger and thumb together. (Unsure if previous models will retroactively get this).
Other than that, there is no significant technological difference.
There are *rumors* that next years Series 10 will actually have some new tech. The big rumor is that it will have sleep apnea detection, and will possibly have the option to vibrate enough to slightly wake you and get you breathing again.
Here's a slick combo I'm going to do come 11/19 after some planning.
- Order a series 9 using my veteran's 10% discount through Apple's online store on 11/19
- Get a $50 Apple gift card because it's a Black Friday promo.
- Use Apple Gift cards previously purchased using the $10 Target GC promo (rec'd when ordering $100 Apple Gift cards)
- Use the Target Red Card to get a 4.5% discount for the Apple gift cards I purchased. (normally 5%)
Here' s the breakdown:
+ $399 Orig price
- $39.90 vet discount
- $50 black Friday apple gift card promo
- $52.07 savings for using the Apple Gift cards purchased through Target deal
= $257.03 before tax!
I consider Target gift cards and Apple Gift cards as cash as we use them regularly!
It's possible Apple will nix the $50 Apple gift card promo since I'm already getting a vet discount. If this happens, I won't use it and just accept the $50 black Friday gift card. Then it looks like this:
If apple doesn't give both vet and bf promo, I'll just use the bf promo and it'll look like this:
+ $399 Orig price
- $50 apple gift cards
- $50.60 savings for using the Apple Gift cards purchased through Target deal
= $298.40 before tax!
What size bezel is the sale going to be for? I take it's for the smaller one, which is just too small for me. I bought the Apple 8 watch which was on sale at target a month ago, but now want the 9 instead.
Is the 100 not worth it? Not like I have money growing on trees! Just wondering as they would be a gift. My kids know I am not a spender, but if the 9 is "better" maybe...thank you!

Doesn't the 10% expire on 11/18?
Otherwise it should work. Used it to drop the 45 from $380 to $350
Battery life on apple watches is so terrible after the latest update (even after the 10.0.1 fix). But maybe my watch is just getting older and I should update.
Repped.

It would be cool for Apple to make a circular watch, though. But I'm also a fan of how they look right now
