Canon has announced that the QRM system is dead, fully replaced by the RF series. With that said, the M cameras can still be nice and adapted to use EF lenses. Some of the M lenses like the 22mm are also very nice.

Price n eds to come down quite a bit more to justify this though.

The $500ish for the refurbished RP camera is the much better buy

I had this model with the 15-45mm lens. The HDR is its biggest weakness, probably at the Snapdragon 835 level or even worse. It doesn't perform well as expected in complicated lighting environment, and the dynamic range isn't the best compared to modern flagship phones.

Hopefully the price will drop even more to match the clearance price at certain stores.

Works with the EOS webcam utility. If price drops further it becomes interesting for me for that use case.

For most folks, isn't the latest phone models' cameras more than sufficient?

Excellent travel (add the 55-200) and all around family camera. What's not to love with a APS-C sensor for great dynamic range that's much better than a smartphone with pinhead sensor.

Don't invest into dead system and the controls looks pretty point and shoot level.

LMAO "Pinhead sensor". Love it. So true. Never heard them referred to that way. I have a 15 Pro Max, but still bring my EOS M50 on trips. Phone beats the camera in some cases, camera destroys the phone in others. Nice to have both options. Personally love the EF-M 32mm f/1.4. Crazy fast lens.

So you would say this would be good for someone who is going to use their smartphone 90% of the time but have this around for special occasions?

I really need some advice on an entry level camera that may leave the house three times a year but isn't going to break the bank. Thanks in advance.
