Riddle me this....it's free to add a new line with Xfinity, you can add up to 10 lines for free. Text and calling is free. You only pay for data if you use it. So what's stopping me from adding a new line and swapping my existing lines SIM card into the new lines iPhone
I've done this in the past with iPhones with physical SIM cards. I believe the iPhone 13 is the last model with the physical SIM so I won't be able to swap from line to line.

Not sure about non-Apple phones.

Done it quite a few times; works well if you already have the By-The-Gig plan; if you have only their unlimited lines, then you either have to pay for a new unlimited line or $15 for the first By-The-Gig line you add.

You do have a small charge for the new line ($10 activation one time, and around $2-3 per month in taxes per line) - plus the sales taxes in your state on the new phone regardless of the discount / trade in credit. That said - paying $50-100 to get upto $800 off is a decent option, as long as you intend to stay on that service. You may need to wait for a month or so to ensure that the device credits are being included before you swap and then cancel the new line.

Also note - if you're wanting to switch lines from the new iPhones (esim) to other phones that have physical sim or eSIM - you may need to go into one of their stores to get the swap done; trying to do it with online / telecall CS is extremely painful.

Even with eSIM - you can do it (esim to psim or swap esims between phones); easier to go into one of their stores to have the swap done.

I've swapped between 2 iphones (esim to esim) as well as iPhone esim to Samsung psim.

Does xfinity care about other line cancellations in regards to this offer? I already have one line with xfinity and just canceled another line I had with them. If I open this new line, get the deal and cancel my first line is it going to affect device credits? I assume no as I will still be keeping the new line open? Asking because other carriers like Tmobile disqualify you from "add-a-line" deals if you had recent line cancellation.
Nope. I've cancelled older lines or even added a new line, swapped sims and cancelled the new line; never had an issue

.If swapping sims and cancelling the new line - Just wait till you see the device credits added in your next bill, then go ahead.

Or if you're cancelling older lines - that can be done any time before / after.

I wonder if existing customers can transfer a number out and transfer it right back to take advantage of this?
Never seen a specific reference in their terms; but a CS told me that usually there needs to be a 30 day gap i.e. port out today, port back after 30 days to be considered a new port in that qualifies.

An alternative way for existing customers : pick a temporary number from GV / Numberbarn / other telco; port it in. Then get the sim swap done, wait to see the device credits, and then cancel the new number.

What you guys mean by cancelling new or old line? Can I add new line with Pixel 7 for $0/month(current BF promotion for 24 months credit) and cancel anytime, is that what you're referring to?

Yes, but it only works if you keep the phone on at least one of the lines on your account for the full 24 months. You can't get out of the part of it.

That's unfortunate. I really just want the $500 off the phone, don't really need service.

How's their service?
Do they use Verizon towers?
I tried Visible (lower plan) who uses verizon towers before and it was so deprioritized that it was unusable (Their premium plan was good)
Same as Visible but with worse (infinitely worse) customer service.

I've swapped between 2 iphones (esim to esim) as well as iPhone esim to Samsung psim.
I want to add a 5th line to our XM plan so that our one line on unlimited will drop to $20 per month. The line on unlimited is an Iphone 12 but we would like to upgrade the Iphone 12 to a newer Iphone (either a 14 or 15). Would it be possible to add a 5th line (port over a google voice #) and order the new Iphone under that line and then swap the Iphone 12 sim into the new Iphone 15 so in essence will get to upgrade the Iphone and add our 5th line for the discount. I believe our current Iphone 12 has a physical sim card in whereas all the new Iphones are esim only so not sure how this would work? Also would this be guaranteed to work? I wouldn't want to run into a situation where I couldn't swap the sims afterall.
