Can you get the Pixel 7 and trade it elsewhere in the future within 24 months promotion period?

Also is there anyway to unlock the device before 24 months promotion period ends?
I was told, no and no way, however, I saw there were some locked phones on sale via eBay or Swappa.

That's unfortunate. I really just want the $500 off the phone, don't really need service.
To get $500 off the phone, you need to sign up for 2 years of service. If you cancel service early, you lose the discount.

I want to add a 5th line to our XM plan so that our one line on unlimited will drop to $20 per month. The line on unlimited is an Iphone 12 but we would like to upgrade the Iphone 12 to a newer Iphone (either a 14 or 15). Would it be possible to add a 5th line (port over a google voice #) and order the new Iphone under that line and then swap the Iphone 12 sim into the new Iphone 15 so in essence will get to upgrade the Iphone and add our 5th line for the discount. I believe our current Iphone 12 has a physical sim card in whereas all the new Iphones are esim only so not sure how this would work? Also would this be guaranteed to work? I wouldn't want to run into a situation where I couldn't swap the sims afterall.
Yes.

You port in a GV number as your 5th line.

After you get the new iPhone - go across to a store, and have them swap the sims; you MAY need to wait for the first month to get the bill credits going before swapping.

Looks pretty weak compared with the front page 2 months ago, trade in value was much higher, that deal also comes with $100 per line for port in.

Nope. I've cancelled older lines or even added a new line, swapped sims and cancelled the new line; never had an issue

.If swapping sims and cancelling the new line - Just wait till you see the device credits added in your next bill, then go ahead.

Or if you're cancelling older lines - that can be done any time before / after.
I thought it said in the fine print you forfeit the device credits if you cancel the new line? How were you able to keep the credits after canceling?

Thanks for your insightful comments in the thread. Repped.

any deals for existing clients?

Doesn't look like it to me. I was hoping for a deal to upgrade an existing line with a trade in. Looking to upgrade one of our XM lines from an Iphone 12 to a newer Iphone but I fear I missed the boat on that promo and it might not come back
If you're on the by the gig plan, you can add a new line, and still get the promo deal. You only get the deal with a new line, not an upgrade. The good thing with the by the gig plan is that you don't pay extra for more lines, since your data is counted for all the combined lines. If you keep your old line - on the by the gig plan - you'll only pay the regulatory and emergency access fees for that line (around $2-3.)

Trade in's values not great for iPhone 12 and iPhone 11 PRO MAX, both only adds $100 to the $500 for a total of $600. I am better off trading in to Apple or Best buy which will give me more than $100 for my trade in.
Technically, they're giving you $600 for the trade-in, because they consider the $500 promo pricing as part of your trade-in value.

No. If you cancel the line the phone is on (or sell the phone, presumably), you lose the promotional credits for the remainder of the term. Both the $500 promo and the trade-in value are in the form of monthly credits towards your payment of the phone. I don't believe that they will unlock phones until they are paid off. So, if you paid it off early, you'd have to pay the full price for the remaining months, minus the credits.

Excellent, another Xfinity Mobile thread. Time to bring the usual:

If it works out for you, great. If it doesn't, good luck. Their support is the worst I've ever dealt with. I spent 2-3 months without a functional phone because they could not handle the most basic requests. No amount of money would ever convince me to attempt to switch back.
Fair enough. On the pre-order promotion for the Pixel 8 Pro, I couldn't get the trade-in to go through because they had my phone's IMEI incorrectly listed as not eligible for trade-in. It took dozens of angry calls through various levels or support supervisors up to the executive level and dozens of hours on the phone. But, to be fair, they eventually make it right - yesterday (6+ weeks later!)
Quote from doltran :
Trade-in promo bumps are pretty bad this time around.

$300 for high end phones like S23, iPhone 13, or Pixel 7 Pro (or newer models)
$100 for the mid phones and only $50 for the low end phones.

Swappa values are probably a decent bit higher than the trade-in bump for most phones, I think.

The $500 off will get you some cheap options: $30 iPhone 12, free Pixel 7 /w extra memory, $100 Pixel 7 Pro, $100 S23 FE.
Yes, but when combined with the $200 off discount pricing for the Pixel 8 Pro and the $500 off promo, it works out much cheaper - or even free - as long as you're adding a new line.

If you've got an older phone (the Pixel 6 pro only gives you a ludicrous $66 trade-in value!), this deal is still decent, but not great.

But I think that this is the best deal out there for someone upgrading from a Pixel 7 Pro to a Pixel 8 Pro, as long as they add a line (which doesn't actually cost any more with the by the gig plan than the initial $10 set-up fee) as long as you add a new line.

The upgrade ends up being free (after monthly credits).
$1000 - $200 sale discount - $500 promo - $300 trade-in = $0.
That's the best deal yet for this specific upgrade path, unless you value the free Pixel Watch 2 from the previous preorder deal at over $200. (It retails for $350, but you can't sell it for much more than $200, with so many others who got the same free watch trying to sell them, too.)
Quote from AmusedSink442 :
yea but 24-month service required. "Device credits applied monthly to your account over 24 months so long as Device Agreement is in effect. If line is canceled, voluntarily or involuntarily or device payments are accelerated, balance of credits associated with device payment are forfeited." You are in effect paying regular price or close to regular price for the device with higher monthly plan charge.
If you're already an Xfinity mobile customer, adding a line to the by the gig plan only costs an initial $10 activation fee, plus the usual regulatory fees of $2-3 per month.)
Quote from ymarker :

Then why would they give you a 70% (including the $200 off promo pricing) discount on a brand new pricy phone if you're not even a customer of theirs? That's kind of the entire point of the promotion.

Never seen a specific reference in their terms; but a CS told me that usually there needs to be a 30 day gap i.e. port out today, port back after 30 days to be considered a new port in that qualifies.

An alternative way for existing customers : pick a temporary number from GV / Numberbarn / other telco; port it in. Then get the sim swap done, wait to see the device credits, and then cancel the new number.
How reliable is going to be this sim swap to ensure the device credits don't drop off? As others have mentioned the CS usually not very helpful at all, so trying to minimize interactions with them

looks like the deal requires number port in? If so, what is the easiest and cheapest way to get my current number with XM port out and port back in?

In XM's "account management" : the device credits follow the device, not the phone number. That's why I called out "wait until you see the credits added in your next bill".

For simplicity :

You have old phone with line 1

You add line 2 to get the new phone. That triggers the eligibility for bill credits.

You then go into store and swap new phone to line 1. Then watch fro the bill credits to follow the new phone to line 1.

When you see that - you can THEN cancel line 2.

For esim : never got it working with online / telecall CS. Always had to go into store for eSIM - and if I needed to get a new pSIM.

Some of the times it went through smoothly; there was one occasion when the in-store rep had to contact their 2nd level tech support to get it done.

IF - both are pSIM - I was able to do it myself (swap sims and have it work); and then work with the online CS to get it updated in the account.
