PDF Expert used to be awesome...
But lately there are many decent PDF apps.
For example, PDFElement is far superior to PDF Expert as full-fledged PDF editor.
Check other PDF apps before you buy.

Do you know of any PDF apps on Mac that have text-to-speech built?
I've also enjoyed PDFGear recently which is pretty fast and works well for free but I feel like they could release a paid version soon.

I use that on Firefox and it's pretty decent but the problem is that I also want to be able to highlight the PDF at the same time which the browsers don't seem to support.

I see.
Microsoft Edge has PDF reader built-in that has text-to-speech and highlighter.
Or Acrobat Reader.
Wow this is really nice thanks
Do you use this? Does the highlight text option work? Right now when I try it in FF/Chrome/GDocs/Preview/PDF Expert or any other app it doesn't seem to actually highlight the text as it's reading it.

Are you high? PDFelement is better than pdf expert?
I originally meant highlighting like you do when you're taking notes. But discovered the TTS highlighting feature. Naturalreaders is really really impressive though and works so well. Thanks again for all the great tips!

It seems that Spoken Content's automatic highlighting does not work on PDF.
It works properly in Safari(websites) or Pages tough.

PDF Expert does not have some important features for business use such as form creation or legally binding digital signature.
It's good enough for home use though.
P.S.
Qoppa is the most feature packed PDF editor other than Acrobat.
Though Qoppa has dull look and eats more memory than other editors.
So some people don't like that.

Spoken Content(Siri) might be enough for you and this works with many apps.
