Interested in creating a small home theater setup with a projector. Might be a dumb question, but what are the major differences in all the 4k projectors I'm seeing? I'm seeing $2k down to $200 on Amazon. What am I losing getting a cheap projector off Amazon? Ty

Light source (lasers are cutting edge; bulbs are less expensive in general) and the standard picture quality things that always make up a nice display (contrast, black level, color accuracy, adjustability, etc.)

The same general things that differentiate a high-end Sony OLED TV from a Black Friday special.

This is the price that it infrequently goes on sale for. I think the lowest ever seen was 2499 (from epson) several months ago, but don't know if it will get that low this weekend. That said, it was available for 2799 this last weekend from epson and crutch field, and I was hesitating to buy it, thinking it would go cheaper but then the sales across all reputable dealers disappeared until today with this deal.

Great deal. I paid full price when it released. I use it for movies and regular TV watching. Occasional Nintendo switch use.

Because the screen itself costs $1k+ lol. A short throw laser PJ is best paired to an ALR screen. They are not cheap.

I'm noob to projector market. If your budget is under $2k, what kind of projector deals will you wait for? I might be able to go few hundred more than $2k. I'm only going to use this to watch streaming videos in a somewhat of a bright room. It won't directly face the sunlight. Not sure how much lumen is needed for that. I won't use it for gaming and prefer not to use a screen. I understand that quality might be crap but what's important to me is that it's somewhat portable w/ good built-in soundbar.

Anyone has feedback between this and the AWOL 3000 pro? I got this from Best Buy but can't open and try it out as there is a 15% restock fee in bestbuy . I will be using it in living room with multiple windows with an ALR screen. Also ls800 does not have eArc which I will need for my Samsung q990c atmos soundbar

All of the legit reviews say this is a great PJ but the 5050 is better in almost everyway (the laser is supposedly a hair sharper).

As a current 5020 owner (10 years! yikes) I'm waiting for a deal on the 5050, which should bank around 2k. I have no boubt my next PJ after that will be laser, but for now they can't match the black levels.

I'll tell you this, my 5020 still looks unebelivable and I'm very picky (all my flat screens were Panny plasmas until I moved to oled). It just can't do 4K.

Any recommendation for good projector to watch both movies and sports (particularly, Cricket) in sub 2500 range… I am currently experimenting with Epson HC 3800 and have tried Benq HT3560 month back..both these projectors are really good for watching movies but looks like 3800 not able to reproduce fast moving scenes properly.. might go back to HT3560 if don't find any good alternative
