Got mine from Recovery for athletes around the same price. No regrets. Just make sure you put a screen protector on asap. Also.. forgive yourself if you scratch the stainless steel like I did🙏
A watch is to use - I f'd up a Panerai and had to get through that feeling. Wear it daily and no regrets now; it shows that I actually use it and enjoy it.

why does it show $449? deal is dead?
I got mine for $399 a week ago. The price jumps back and forth between $399 and $449 on Bike Closet (just need to check it periodically). The first post points this out.
Overall, the watch is fantastic. I am upgrading from Fenix 5 so I am familiar with Garmin's ecosystem and controls. This watch is an upgrade in almost every respect.
- I can confirm that it does NOT have multiband GPS (you need the pro or sapphire version).
- WIth AOD turned off, I am getting 12-14 days of battery life which is plenty for me. That's doing an aerobic workout every other day (no GPS though).
- This version has 16GB of memory and, after loading NA maps, you are left with approx. 2G. The Sapphire version has 32GB and has your local region's maps pre-installed.
- Get ready to go back to the 90's when dealing with Garmin Express. I got it to work but it's a major pain in the ass! GE will confirm Apple users biases about shitty Windows software.
If you want significantly better battery life in Epix series then 51mm pro is your watch (double the battery life of all other epix versions). All the other versions are going to be the same or less than this version (slate steel).

Great, accurate information. The GPS on the non-sapphire version works great though, doubtful you would notice a difference except for very specific, rare occurrences. The other big advantage of the Sapphire watch is the actual Sapphire glass which is tremendously more scratch resistant. However, screen protectors are inexpensive.
My only disagreement is that Garmin Express has worked well for me so far. Maybe I've been lucky.
Would I have preferred the sapphire version of this watch? Absolutely. However, it wasn't worth $200 more to me.

Yeah, same for me, I couldn't justify the extra $200 either.

Thanks for taking the time to explain in detail, it helped me decide which model to go for. I'm gonna periodically check the website for the $399 price drop
