Why aren't briqs ok for smoking? I thought briqs were more consistent temp wise, esp for those with a kamado style grill.

i prefer high quality briquets like these when smoking meat but i don't own a Kamado and use a offset smoker.

damn looks like deal is expired these are high quality charcoal briquets but i usually don't buy them because this brand is too expensive.

Bought four bags @ $9.99 each from an earlier Walmart deal.

It lights fine, burns well but leaves a ton of ash (not really a problem for me.)

Publix has been doing BOGO on various brands of Lump charcoal so I bought six bags of lump @ less than $10/bag.
