Samsung associates the serial number with the order, when you go to return an item it will list the serial number right on the page so it must be returned. You could still wear the watch while waiting for the new one though if you really wanted, just don't damage it and send the correct one back when you get the new order.

Just throwing this out there for anyone who may not have a trade in, Walmart has the Watch 4 Classic selling for $99 right now. In store pickup where available (possible price match to other retailers too). But buying that plus following the steps in here would net you the same price as described. Obviously spending the $100 on the other watch, but still getting it for $160ish rather than closer to $300 using the code and no trade in.
