In this case a few days ago, I was lucky and the amazon basics battery was leaking just sitting in the drawer that I use to rotate charged batteries when needed.
So, do you battery snobs put your Eneloops in $3 outdoor Halloween decorations with allegedly 'waterproof' cases? Or LED candles or toys that don't have a low-voltage cutoff so they'll drain the batteries down to damage levels if you don't replace them every 3-5 days without fail? 'Just use alkalines in those' - that still gets pretty damn' expensive for the whole holiday season.
I actually wish they'd stop deleting the threads for the ultra low quality wacky named Chinese brands with 'secret' 70% off coupons just so I have more really junky ones for outdoor Christmas decorations. I don't even want to use the Amazon ones when they're brand new, luckily I still have a lot of older 'bad' rechargeables that won't register in an Eneloop/Panasonic charger anymore but an off-brand digital display charger still accepts them.

I don't put my eneloops outside, but eneloops end up in my kids flashlights, which drain them completely. Might shorten their life, but they are 10 years old and still going pretty strong.
I just use them for Mouse, Keyboard and LED candles..
I'm not expecting to use these 1000 times but the breakeven point and the devices I'm using them in is pretty low probably less than five times at the price I paid for the rechargeables back then.
If I was using these and high drain or sensitive devices, go for the name brand.
Haven't had any fail on me yet.

Voltages vary though. Some are around the nominal 1.2 volts but others are 1.4-1.5 volts. Idk why but the charger thinks there's something wrong with the 1.2 volts ones as it starts flashing when charged to 1.2 volts, but they work just fine. None have died or gone even a little below 1.2 volts.
