I remember comparing this to the Precision Instruments version, as it looked identical and prices weren't that different at that time.

Pretty sure the Tekton is made in Taiwan and I know the Precision is made in USA.

The Precision goes 50-250 Ft Lbs and the Tekton goes 40-250.

I am a Tekton fanboy, but I went with the Precision because of Made in USA.

At the current Tekton deal of $100 vs the almost $200 of currently priced Precision, the decision might be tougher today.
Not even close. After determining how ridiculously wrong my harbor freight torque wrenches were, causing me to drastically over torque everything, I'll never trust any tool from there that requires precision. Cheap hand tools, sure, but nothing like this ever again
Is it just me or does it seem like a split-beam torque wrench like this is a buy it for life kind of tool compared to those often wonky spring loaded clickers?

There's a neat little animation on the Tekton page that shows how it works: https://www.tekton.com/1-2-inch-d...h-trq62203

I've been looking for one of these and this hits a ft lb range that would cover all the bases. Can anyone comment on the quality, longevity, and ease of use of this? Maybe some comparisons to other torque wrenches

Depends on the torque value you hardware needs to be tightened to. If that value is closer to the low end of the range for this wrench (40ft-lbs) then the 3/8 version might work better.

Any torque wrench will work for this when used with a crow foot wrench.

This is my backup unit and it works great. Accurate out of the box.

My primary is an older Britool.

Most need ten or twenty lbs of pressure so unlikely

Just in time for my old Tekton which lasted 4 years only barely used to tighten the occasional oil pan drain plug at 30 pounds. Screw this BS get craftsman or better.
Doesn't Tekton have lifetime warranty? This Husky [homedepot.com] one is on sale (I know it's been cheaper in the past but what can you do?)

Check harbor freight. They have a low torque option

Would look cool if you're working on an old muscle car laugh out loud

I'd wait for this digital tq wrench by Gearwrench [amazon.com] to go on sale on Amazon again for $115ish
