Initially had z790i and the external piece faulted and didn't trust it even replacement.

You are right. I can see it on your link but not the provided one. Thx much.
Nope, but It's back in stock so you can jump in.
Edit: nm. Looks like the only reason I wouldn't want this is that it isn't compatible with the low profile cooler I planned to buy. It's because of the height of the heatsink on this mb. Tough making everything fit together in these small SFF boxes.
If works, you need a bios update.
The advantage of this over a b760 is the possibility to downvolt the cpu while change the sa volume, which is crucial because b760 voltage is actually too high for 13gen and sa voltage is a key factor when comes to ddr5 frequency.
If at the same price, I would head for a z690 board instead of 760

However, if you install a graphics card, this option is no longer available.
So, don't go out of your way to get a processor with integrated graphics, unless by some off chance you find a deal.
Great for second monitors though, they'll do 4k 144hz
I'm aware that the BIOS flashback might be needed depending on CPU. I'm trying to put together a budget PC. So far my plan is this mobo with a i5-12600k which is about $153 and I'm waiting for a sale on the RX 6700 XT. I want to kind of do both gaming and productivity type tasks and am on a budget.
--if you are not planning to use thunderbolt for display then ignore, not an issue. there are very few thunderbolt displays anyway.
--if you are planning to only use displayport or hdmi from internal or separate gpu then ignore not an issue
--if you are wanting to use usb-c for display, then this is may be an issue, because in this case you can only route the internal GPU over the thunderbolt/usb-c ports. there is no way to use an separate GPU for display over tb/usb-c
one common reason to want to do display over usb-c is that with a usb-c monitor, you only need 1 cable for display and power to the monitor. this is handy if you are building a portable-ish small computer (which this ITX board is great for....) and bringing a usb-c portable monitor.
even if you are not planning to use internal gpu, i would strongly recommend you buy a CPU with internal GPU, many small form factor builds use PCIE riser extensions for the GPU and sometimes there are compatability issues like the riser is gen3 but the board is gen4 and you have to change a setting in the bios, having an internal GPU for troubleshooting is worth the extra $20.
despite the TB issue i mentioned above, with the rebate i'm strongly considering ordering one of these and putting it on the shelf as i think 12-14th gen will serve me for the next 3-4 years and otherwise this board is pretty feature packed for about the price of a b660/b760 board.
also, i kinda doubt that ASUS is gonna verify with amazon the purchase date, so as long as you send in a shipping receipt with the right date.....

Oh! So... is the passthrough worth it? Does it work seamlessly with Gsync/VRR etc?
I bought the mobo in this deal because it was so cheap, but if the MSI one is that much better, I might just flip this one later.
