The battery life is longer, although if you turn off GPS on the 11 you can get closer to what the 12 has (the 12 does not include GPS).
I recently decided to go with the 12 over the 11. While the improved battery life was a factor, the biggest plus in favor of the 12 is the length of time it can record without shutting down due to heat. GoPros are known for heat issues in certain scenarios, and it appears they've improved the 12 considerably in this regard. Lots of tests on YouTube demonstrating this. Having a traditional tripod connector built-in, LOG color profile and HDR were also bonuses for the 12 over the 11. Being able to use a Bluetooth mic is also a cool addition.

I was a few days over 30 and they overrode it without hesitation. Silly corporate policy, I wonder how many people at say 40 days just accept it and don't use work around like you mentioned, or even more wasteful and costly just return the old one and get a new one at the cheaper price.

DJI's website has the Action 3 for $279, which should be the same most elsewhere. The Action 4 remains $400 for the standard bundle. You might save 4% via CB from a certain site today at Best Buy tho.

Source: I bought one last summer and returned it. Forgot the memory card the first time right before the 90 days. they didnt take it. When they confirmed until when I can return it, they were surprised that it was either 6 months or no time limit. I forgot.
Now im gonna buy one again for my vacation but I might keep it. Who knows? Ive got 6 months to return it.
