Amazon has a holiday return policy until Jan 31st, 2024 so can always buy now and think about it later
some of the storage interface protocol standard are: IDE, AHCI/SATA, SAS, NVMe.
you are confusing a protocol to a physical type of storage. this is akin to confuse USB C to USB 3 (i.e. they are not strictly related, a USB C could be USB 2 or USB 4, just like Sata could be SATA spinning drive, SATA tape drive, or SATA solid state drive.)
the flash memory inside of a SATA SSD, is the exact same flash memory inside of NVMe SSD. what differ is the interface standard and controller. a NVMe is a type of SSD. it is not replacement of SSD, it is replacement of SATA.

Not saying either is bad. Just that it depends on your needs.
Expensive... but recoverable.
I don't use mechanical drives anymore. I just make backups of important files and pictures across all 3 drives for redundancy.

Seems to be the same speed for $159
Also X9 Pro is probably more reliable, seeing as a lot of X8's were made during lockdowns. Most (>50%) of my SSD fails in four decades on this planet... came from drives built between 2020 and 2021.
Saw this but went with the X9 Pro. Samsung T7 may be slightly more reliable, but getting 5 years of warranty would mean a T9 at $60/unit more. Plus Micron is an American company, and I backup religiously. Also my 8TB 870 QVO failed in the first hour, and I have to return it tomorrow.
In the end, after all that horse trading, I got two 4TB X9 Pro's and four 18-20TB WD's to do backups at all my offices and residences. Keeping writes off my MacBook to reduce soldered SSD failure risk.
Similarly USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 will be throttled to 10 Gbps (instead of 20 Gbps). These affected machines lack a second USB channel, even with Thunderbolt (USB4 20/40 Gbps mode).
[And no, USB4 doesn't mean support for USB 3.2 Gen 2x2... USB already has two non-overlapping 10 Gbps and 20 Gbps specs].
In terms of regular uses it make no difference as lonng as the controller is good at correcting errors.
A 4TB QLC will last a few hundreds TB of writes. Average life time use by regular users is below 10 TB.
