I have a wired doorbell, two outdoor EufyCam 2 cameras, and a few indoor eufy cams. I've had the majority for 2+ years.
When I bought them, they all worked perfectly. However, they get worse with each update.
- They constantly miss movement, only detecting squirrels or cats, but missing people. Sometimes it thinks a leaf is a person now. Or the wheel of a neighbors car.
- The settings for how long to take a video upon detecting motion change nothing.
- Sensitivity adjustments change nothing
- The app requires you to constantly dismiss ads for their other products before viewing your camera feed. This is an issue if someone is at the door and you want to respond to them but the app loads an ad instead, which interrupts going straight to the doorbell view. Dismissing the ad requires you to then click the doorbell cam in the app, which then needs to load. All this takes over 30 seconds, at which point the person may be gone. Also, for whatever reason there is a bug that if you click a notification it stops recording.... so you'll miss the person at the door AND you won't get a recording of it.
- Promised HomeKit support (it was on the box when I purchased), yet still no HomeKit support for my doorbell
For the money, If you are technically inclined, I'd build your own system, or go with another brand. Eufy used to be an easy choice because the data was all local, but accessing it now requires passing through their servers. Even if it is secure now, they've proven that they can't be trusted and their software gets worse over time while promoting their other new products in a way that reduced functionality.

If you don't use the homebase all your footage is stored locally on the doorbell itself. If the doorbell gets taken or destroyed so does all your footage. If you have a home base the footage would still be accessible since it's not stored on the doorbell but on the homebase.

Also, if you're trying to get these to integrate with HomeKit all you have to do is spin up HomeBridge on a Raspberry Pi and install a Eufy plugin that will make almost all Eufy devices work with HomeKit. This is the easier route if you're only doing automation via HomeKit, if you want more in-depth control of your home you'd probably want to use Home Assistant.
They had a kerfuffle about their data being encrypted when it was being sent unencrypted. In addition, when they said you were running completely local, they uploaded thumbnails to the cloud.

Ads can be turn off if you go to setting and turn off subscribed to product update. It's turn on by default. I see banner in main app but nothing intrusive.
Cross Tracking with multiple camera is very impressive. It's able to recognize someone in the front yard and track them throughout the perimeter and stitch them together.
Home Kit: I don't use it but I can see how alot of promised compatability is unfilled. HomeBase3 for example.
For anyone concern about thumbnail upload through AWS, you can turn it off but you won't be able to get thumbnail preview.
My biggest gripe with Eufy is slow loading time with live preview but they finally got it fixed with the latest update.
I got 10+ device with Eufy and buying my parents too. It has quirks but it's not a deal breaker. I don't know any brand with 4K camera with no subscription.
If they do decided to break the camera, they would have to break and enter the house, locate the HomeBase and destroy it. The HomeBase can be hidden. Mine is hidden away from plain view. Thieves are too busy trying to find valuable than to find small device that is used to backup footage. It looks like external hard drive.
