they have wifi version of this same device on sale amazon 79. far better for almost everybody imo for the extra 8 dollars.

although i'm not sure what you mean by wired. i believe this transmits power and data over ethernet so you have to run ethernet too it (so it's a non starter for me, running ethernet through an insulted exterior wall=yuck). the wifi version would just be powered over existing doorbell wirings, transmit data via wifi, and not need any additional wiring, but both are wired in a sense
PoE camera is more secure though in theory because making a WiFi jammer is not hard, and a malicious invader can potentially suppress wifi cameras by jamming your WiFi.

This Reolink doorbell is very similar to LaVIew models... perhaps a re-branding. FWIW - a WIRED LaVIew doorbell is $20 cheaper on Amazon and has somewhat similar capabilities. The LV-PDB5 is wired to the existing transformer. It has encrypted video, motion-detection, assorted notifications, and can connect to an existing (mechanical) chime. Cloud-subscription is not necessary. I'm happy with this doorbell after three years of use.

We went with this POE in our new build. Much better picture quality and quicker than our previous Ring (and no stupid subscription required). We only inserted a 128gb sd card (NVR isn't required).

Most likely says it for marketing and support purposes, but as someone else said above it's incorrect. This can stream RTMP, RTSP, and ONVIF so you can use it with anything that supports those protocols.

I personally have mine set up to stream RTSP+ONVIF and for the past few months it's been consumed by Frigate (long-term recording), tinyCam (for combined local viewing alongside my Amcrest cameras until I get Frigate hooked into HomeAssistant), and the Reolink app.

However I did have to switch things up last week, as any time 3+ clients we're consuming the RTSP stream at once, RTSP would just stop working (the Reolink app would keep working though). Now I've got go2rtc as the only RTSP consumer, with Frigate and tinyCam consuming the re-streamed go2rtc stream. Haven't had any issues since doing that.

Other than that hiccup, this doorbell has been pretty reliable, much more so than my old Wyze doorbell.
Are there any issues with key frames? I don't really know what key frames are, but I read lots of issues with reolink and key frames and nvr.

Can you link the wifi version?

Yes, the Wifi version can be wired with ethernet too but requires power from the existing doorbell's power wiring, whereas this PoE can be powered and wired over a single ethernet cable. PoE doorbell assumes you have their nvr or a poe injector/switch to power it. For most homeowners, getting an ethernet to the door isn't possible and far from easy, so the wifi version is popular.

All my reolink cameras are PoE, but for the doorbell I went with wifi and find it to connect just as fast and reliable.

A lot of suspect comments on this thread. Lots of people saying this is a good product with hardly any posting history/new accounts.

No name brand. Be weary.

Reolink is a very well known and respected brand among anyone who researches beyond the big name brands like Ring.

Here's a solid breakdown - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXoTH1-78iA

Anybody with the POE or the Wi-Fi versions, can you set a static IP? (Not just static DHCP, but manual set static IP)

LOL, not even close.

Reolink's biggest selling point, IMHO, is that it supports RTSP. So that you can use it with your own NVR and not be limited to something as primitive as a SD card and not have to use someone's cloud service. This feature is what sets Reolink apart from all the others and is why it's so popular with the DIY crowd.

The camera you mentioned doesn't support RTSP and that's an immediate, automatic deal-breaker for certain people.

The Amazon reviews are suspiciously well written, but the use case is pretty simple.

I can't/won't run POE to my front door, and I know their is a wifi version on sale, but I went with this. Cheapest I've ever seen with coupon.

I'm glad I clicked on your link. I have that doorbell camera but it just crapped out after about 14 months of being completely protected from the elements and sunlight on a covered porch. It is a rebadged Lorex (Dahua) but the Lorex app in better and faster (I have both). These were the best doorbell cameras I could find FOR MY NEEDS. I have them recording 24/7 fo my Hikvision 32 channel NVR. It really pissed me off that Amcrest basically told me "too bad for you" that my warranty had expired two months too late but I just bought another one because they just work the best for my needs and I can use my expensive tubular chime with it. I guess I can take it off my CCC list now.

They run really hot which is why I'm guessing it failed.

No big deal, just installing it in a brick wall in Texas.
