its the best "Outdoor TV" because it gets really bright which is great for viewing in direct sunlight, not because it has protections from the elements
I have OLED that I use for my PC, LG OLED 42" C2. I just bought the U7K 75" and it has an amazing picture. Still shocked. It compares very well against my 4th OLED.
I'm not sure what OPs reasoning is but my reasonings are
1. TV manufacturers sell your data from the apps you use, there have been rumors about certain manufacturers reporting your data to the Chinese government (TCL had a suspicious app, when people figured it out users TVs forcefully updated to remove the found software)
2. They use low quality hardware to run the OS. Google TV gets a bad rep from this, Google TV is actually great but only if ran from a Chromecast with Google TV, an Onn Box, or the Nvidia Shield.

For what I've read and from user feedback, Sony has better processing and upscaling overall, resulting in a better picture...The Hisense U8 series, however, gets brighter than the X90L, so take that into consideration if tv is going in a well lit room.
1. They sell your data
2. The Tv company has access to your internet. Samsung and other brand tvs have been caught sending large packets of data.
3. Roku, nvidia Shield, fire TV, etc are so cheap anymore. They also get regular updates, work smoothly and have more functionality than MVP software with TVs.
4. Personal preference but multiple TVs in your house using roku works better than one using x tv brand os, another using y brand os and another using a 1 year old version of y TV brand software.

Why can't this have ROKU built in?? I'd buy it immediately.
I would rather it not come without ANY OS if ROKU isn't available.
Google OS doesn't have ads and can be completely customized with different launchers. You can side load many more apps as well. Most people should go with Google these days. But I believe the general consensus say it's best to not use the built in OS and get an external device for the smart tech. That way, over time, you slow down something else that can be replaced, and still keep your good looking TV for longer.

I know this is the super lazy way to look this up, but the difference between the seven and the eight, do they get similar brightness? I just purchased the seven from Costco for outdoor use. I assume it does not make a ton of sense to spend $200 more if the brightness is similar.
And what exactly is wrong with using the built in Apps ?? I appreciate the feedback
They generally run better via a dedicated media player with better hardware. Nvidia Shield and Apple TV are two best options I believe. General users who don't want the best experience won't care about this.
