Is it worth spending $$110 more than this for a classic vibe Squier or anniversary version for a beginner?
For a beginner, no, it's not worth spending over $100 more. Both models have satin finishes which is nice. But, if you're a more knowledgeable player, you will get alnico pickups if you buy those higher priced models. This model has ceramic pickups which lack the clarity of alnico.
I wouldn't know a good guitar if you hit me in the head with it. I appreciate the expert opinions here, though I will concentrate on TIG welding instead of beginning guitar at 62.
Good price. It's the same thing, as far as I can tell, as the Affinity Limited Edition from Guitar Center/Musician's Friend, except different colors are available. It's at least $25+ less after all available discounts from Adorama so it's a good deal.
My only issue would be if it arrived with a problem. It would be a more of a pain to exchange.
That aside, this is apparently a very solid starter guitar.

What are you on about? The Monoprice thread is over that way.

Lol. I was just noticing this is made from popular Poplar. If the grain looks like the picture it has a nice look.
Actually it's not a terrible deal. I don't care for the large headstock, 21 frets, or the greeny scratch plate. But Affinity's can be nice. It's almost on par with my $60 StratBay.
And it's at least $40 too high. You can probably find a used one for a bit less that's been well cared for and super setup.
But if you like it then it's relatively low priced.
