Just got back from two stores in orlando. They told me no promos at all unfortunately. When I talked about the promos advertised online, they said I would need to apply to those online and that they couldnt give me any promos in store except for the $80/mo 1 gig service (which I thought was the normal price already).

I signed up with AT&T fibre last June. Had some technical requirements that normal people wouldn't have, but there were many aspects that were just fumbled and not delivered by AT&T. After 3 months of trying to get my issues resolved, I gave up and cancelled the service.
My issues were:
  • After signing up, AT&T started email spamming and phone spamming me. 3 phone calls to confirm installation in 4 days, that I had already agreed to. Then they started email spamming for many different offers and cell phone deals and apps to control/monitor the internet. This spamming continued for about 3 weeks - about 5 emails a week ... for nothing.
  • Asked for paper billing. Took 4 months before I got the first paper bill.
  • They charged me $15 extra for a static IP that was never provided. First month, I got onto chat and tried to get it resolved. They claimed the charge had been removed. The next month, the prior charge came back along with $15 more. The first CSR (customer service rep) had just provided a 30 day "grace period" for payment of the charge, she didn't remove it. I pointed that out and the 2nd CSR claimed he removed both charges AND that I was signed up for paper billing.
  • 3rd month, there were 3x$15 extra charges for the static IP which was never provided. Again, with a new CSR they claimed they took all 3 charges off and ensured I was supposed to get paper billing - I had never gotten any paper bills, ever. Of course, AT&T was spamming me about paying the bill through their online payment system, which I never wanted. They also wanted permission to STEAL MONEY from my account directly. No thank you. I want to sent money, never have it pulled. I want a paper trail, generated by them for the bills. It turned out this was critical.
  • I knew my bills were due on the 14th of the month, so a few days prior, I'd check online in the AT&T system for the bill so I could write a check to pay it. In month 3, I still wasn't getting paper bills. I asked the CSR for the exact payment I needed to make to avoid the late fee and he gave me something like $58.52, which I paid through my bank that night.
  • ~Two weeks later, I checked the bill online. There was a $10 late payment charge, seems AT&T decided I owned them $58.54, not $58.52 + $15 charge for a static IP, but at least the prior 3 months static IP charges were gone. I'd had enough. Decided to cancel. That got me to their "client retention team" who are authorized to handle and do lots of billing things that normal CSRs cannot. He listened to my complaints, said he'd make it all better, but I'd had enough. If their normal people couldn't solve the issue in 3+ months, I didn't have any belief my bills wouldn't be screwed for the next 10+ yrs. He removed all the bogus charges, the $10 late fee, and refunded the remaining time with the service ... about 2 weeks. Said it would take at 1-2 months for AT&T to send me a check for the amount owed. Of course, I needed to return their modem/router within 30 days, unharmed, to avoid an equipment fee. Returned it the next day at the local UPS store, got a final email from AT&T that they'd received the equipment 2 days later. I was hopeful.
  • I canceled service ... let me check ... I kept all CSR transcripts with dates .... those all came in handy when dealing with every new CSR each month. Service canceled 9/4/23. AT&T refund came in the form of a Debit card, not a check (booooooo) on 12/4. $25.07. The fine print of the card says there is a $3 monthly charge, if not used before the expiration date and that the card expires 4/2024. I'm fairly certain that is illegal in some states. Looking over the paperwork now, I have to activate it (expected), and may request a bank transfer or request a paper check. Both actions have to be performed online.
The fiber service was great. No outages and symmetric at 300 Mbps each way. Of course, they made an offer for $10/month more for 1 Gbps service, which I declined. My real edge router can't keep up with that bandwidth, so it would have been a waste even if it was free.

After all of this, here's my recommendation, provided you agree to
  • online billing
  • letting AT&T "take" the monthly payment directly from your account
  • Don't want anything special like a static IP or other ports normally closed to be open (which I needed)
Take the offer. If you don't already have fiber connections to your house, expect them to drill a new hole through the siding and they won't necessarily connect anywhere near the old AT&T demarcation equipment. For me, that was on the other side of the house need the other utilities like gas, power, POTS phone and CATV stiff. These all need to be connected to the whole-house grounding poll that is buried a few feet into the ground. The new fiber line was put in almost exactly on the opposite corner of the home and to an upstairs room (my home-office). What's 1 more hole in the outside wall, right? It made for a shorter fiber cable and fiber doesn't need to be grounded like other utilities.

I plan to give AT&T another chance, once it is clear that all the billing issues are gone. Loved the service, but I'll have to setup some outside servers to make the typical residential fiber work for my needs. Most people will find the service to be excellent. Fiber sorta "just works, always" at this point.

If you have any issues with billing, cancel and try again later. They won't be able to fix it. The CSR can't see the correct bills or statements, so don't trust what they say. If there are any issues, use the chat, not voice, to attempt resolution. I tried voice and the CSR accents and extremely fast speech were intelligible for my understanding. One CSR had to be asked 3 times to speak more slowly. It was clear he was trying to fake an American accent, which did help, but he was still speaking about 3x too fast.

Everyone at AT&T and all their 3rd party representatives were always nice and professional, even if they weren't actually able to help me. I don't blame the people I was dealing with, I blame the corporation for setting up limitations that prevented these people from quickly handling my issues. Something just wrong with AT&T billing. I don't know how to say it any clearer. In other countries, there are laws that make any prices show to customers include all fees and taxes. The US needs a national law that does the same thing, so normal people aren't screwed with $15+ of extra fees that aren't disclosed in the advertising. This is especially important for cell phones and other telecom services, since there are so many added fees. For example, with paper billing, there was a $5/month added charge. Don't want them taking money from you bank account? That's another $5/month fee. That needs to be illegal.

And of course, my experience could be isolated, but there's a reason that AT&T is one of the most hated companies in America.

BTW, I tried to get help from the local AT&T store. They wouldn't let me pay the $0.02 I owed to avoid the $10 late fee and they wouldn't accept equipment return. That had to be done through a UPS store. I called the local AT&T store directly and they hung up on me twice. They were only for cellular people, click.

I hope this doesn't come off as a rant, but if it does, perhaps someone in power at AT&T will be able to actually do something to fix these issues. I double even a director level could do it. This would need to be one of the S-VPs to fix it.

Ditto. And when I went to the site to see what Internet options I have, the only one I can get is AT&T air (aka, wifi via wireless).

As much as I don't like it, I'll keep my old grandfathered u-verse plan which is faster for less.
Depending on your speed needs, T-mobile has a home internet plan for $50/month for 50 Mbps which should be faster than the old u-verse ADSL2+ speeds. It is 5G.

I know a church that couldn't get any wired internet from the cable company or telco that deployed the t-mobile wireless internet and they've been happy.

Can you give an update on this if possible?
As of now, I still haven't gotten any equipment shipping info. My service start date is still tomorrow 12/12/2023. Reviewing the account (new account), it's still active (nothing is showing of being cancelled).

My account (current active account), I've yet to notice any disruption. I plan on disconnecting service tomorrow in the event I receive my equipment tomorrow. If I don't get it, I'll just cancel the day I do get it.

I called my local store and they said there is a $1500.00 promo for 1gb right now. No way, right?

Edit: He also wanted me to sign up over the phone. So I thought it smelled fishy.

While ordering 500 Mbps, rep offered me 1 GB for the same price. The $350 gc and speaker applies. What a win.

Does the free speaker only work through chat? Do I have to checkout through the agent?
That's what they told me. Looks like they can also add the GeForce Now membership on top of the speaker. But you can't do any CB sites

I signed up yesterday under my wife's name. The service is currently under my name. I chatted with the rep before hand and he informed me he could do all gift cards ($50, $150, $150) all in one (that way I wouldn't have to wait) along with the speaker. After I gave him our addressed, it recognizes there's already service and informed me that if the order was placed, it would automatically be cancelled. They would have to contact the person under the address and see if their service would be terminated, etc (account being me). I just told him that our uncle was moving and was terminating service and that we're putting the service under a new name. He then informed me about the "Transfer of Liability" they do. I just told him, ok I understood and would look into it.

I instead placed the order online and have the equipment setup for delivery on Tuesday (which is the day I the new service start date). I'll just cancel my service the night before and then be setup the next (less downtime).

As of typing this now, my order is still active so here's hoping they fulfill the order so I don't have to cancel with more downtime.

Also for those that don't know, other cashback sites are doing $75 for new service with AT&T, fyi. Makes this deal even sweeter.
Were you able to create a new ATT login id for the new account you created under your wife's name? Or you see both accounts (the current one under your name and the new one under your wife's name) linked under your current ATT login id automatically?

I currently have ATT Fiber under my wife's name for the last few years and submitted a new order under my name to take advantage of this offer. The order went thru fine, however when I login to my current ATT account, I see the new account got automatically linked to my existing ATT login. Not sure why / how both accounts got linked automatically and wondering if the new order will go thru.

I'm hear to comment that the reward part is totally misleading. It's only if you read through all their email. Correctly identified their millions of scams emails, go to their reward website within a certain time frame. Got out of a contract with the previous company. Then you might be qualified for it. They make you jump hoops before you can get to it. It very disappointing.

Nah, I was able to create a whole new login account for my wife (emails are completely different and don't appear within one another). I saw earlier that they shipped my equipment so all is coming along nicely.

That's odd that it linked together.

Just gotta do your due diligence to make sure you get the offer within the allocated time frame. They expect people to forget just like how people sign up for free trials in hopes they forget to cancel before getting charge (not talking AT&T).
