Similar paint to the Lunar Shift. If so, stay clear. The paint chips and will cause drifting. Look it up before buying.
It's called controller drift, or analog stick drift, because one or both thumbsticks will drift, or move, in an undesired direction even when you aren't touching them
I love the Xbox controller but it seems they are so notorious for stick drift we should be looking for deals on soldering irons instead.

(Spoken as someone with a deadzone on my own controller right now 😂)

I'm happy you got one that worked out for you. However you type that specific color into a Google search there are tons of people who had the issue, again glad you had good luck with it.
Just the cautionary tale where I reinforce doing research before purchasing.

It's the same as people complaining about stick drift, of all the years of gaming in Xbox (and Switch) I've yet to have a single controller go bad on me. Maybe I'm just crazy lucky but I doubt it. I think with anything the internet amplifies issues where every single person with that issue joins in on the conversation, yet the vast majority have nothing to say because it doesn't happen to the majority.

Bottom line, don't not grab this if you fancy the color, based on a few people saying theirs chipped. Xbox has a great warranty too.

I mean when multiple people state that the inner rim is also painted and that has chipped off considering how analog sticks work it's the clear indication that the paint has caused a lot of people's controller to drift. I have facts, you have opinions. good for you what do you want a farking dog 🍪

Check the target reviews a lot of people stating that the controls started breaking down in 2 months. How oddly specific for multiple people to state two months...

To each their own. I don't like to worry about having to recharge and swap batteries when using a wireless controller.

I use an xbox controller, but I use it wired, so I don't have to worry about batteries.

It's not something to worry about. Lol. I have a charger that I keep eneloops in 10 feet away from my Xbox. Once my batteries get low it takes seconds to replace. Having battery built in is awful. I hate playing wired, even if I have a really long wire. It's no good. Replaceable batteries the best way to go

Exactly! Swapping in a fresh pair of Eneloop rechargeable batteries into an Xbox controller takes seconds.

With PlayStation controllers, you either have to switch to wired when the controller gets low - which feels awkward after using it wireless and may require super long cables if you're playing on a TV from the living room couch - or have a spare controller charged up and ready to go - and for the cost of one spare controller on sale you could get a charger and a whole pack of rechargeable Eneloop batteries. You can have unplanned couch co-op sessions without worrying about whether every controller is charged and ready to go because if any controller is low you just swap in a fresh pair of batteries and get back to playing

To be fair, I didn't realize my Xbox 360 controllers exhibited stick drift because almost all games have sufficient dead-zones to hide it. But then I tried to play Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, which doesn't have a dead-zone (at least not on PC, I'm not sure about consoles), and out of my 5 X360 controllers only one made the game playable - the other 4 resulted in the game camera constantly rotating to the left and/or my character always walking to the right

I bought this same controller at a similar price ($35 from newegg) and it's fantastic. By far one of the coolest colorways I've seen on any controller, and it's been working perfectly over the last month, even after taking quite a beating from me stumbling my way through Lies of P.

Like I said, to each their own. I find having to have charged batteries and swapping them annoying. I prefer a built-in battery. After a gaming session I put it on it's dock and it's good to go. I only use my xbox controller with a cord.

I think there is a rechargeable battery you can buy for the Xbox controller and put it on a dock to charge. Look into that.

I know with the PS5 you essentially need to have two controllers and those things are really overpriced. About twice as much as an Xbox controller. I have kids so if they play the PS5 they may not always remember to charge it and then when I go to play the controller is dead. And I refuse to play with a cord so I just don't play PS5 much.

Replaceable batteries is the way to go. Buy a pack of Eneloops and a charger and keep them right next to where you game. It will literally take less than ten seconds to replace and keep playing. With Playstation if you don't have a second controller you're out of luck. MS has the right idea and I hope they never go away from using AA batteries in their controllers.

People who abuse and thrash their controllers want to blame all issues on the controller and not on how they don't take care of their electronic devices. I see it all the time, friends throw their controllers around or drop them or let kids use them, and then are all upset when something stops working right. Internet complainers spread FUD like wildfire when they only have themselves to blame for like 99% of problems they complain about.

Don't get me wrong, I get what you're saying.

I was actually going to get the rechargeable battery for the xbox, but it's way too expensive, and I just really don't like dealing with rechargeable AAs. It's extra mess that I don't like have sitting around.

Right now you can get a PS5 controller for $49. And that's a lot cheaper than the xbox controller with rechargeable battery.

And I really understand not enjoying playing with a cord, especially if you're couch gaming. I strictly use my xbox controller (wired) for my PC.

If I had kids perhaps I'd change my mind, but I don't, so I'm speaking with what I prefer from a controller.

Switch joycons are notorious for having drift issues. I keep mine docked, so they're well taken care of, and they still developed drift issues.

Ps5 isn't a good comparison because once the internal battery dies(and it will die) you cannot replace it. The controller is dead. With the rechargeable battery for the Xbox you can toss the battery and buy a new one. The controller will work forever. Much better value imo

How long would that take? I've had the switch pro controller since the day the switch came out and the battery life is still phenomenal. That's six years; so that's a pretty good life for a controller. Is the PS5 controller any different? I don't expect to have a controller forever, so unless the battery on the PS5 are prone to failures, I don't see this as a valid argument. No controller will work forever.

I got the silver lunar one last BF and it's holding up well. I game a decent amount and have several controllers including the elite 2 and never had any stick drift problems. Must be lucky I guess
