Would definitely get this if this had USB-C charging. Just that e-waste from big charging bricks.

my dell with a 10th gen intel does not specifically say it can charge usbc and came with a normal dell brick
but it will charge when i plug in a usbc and the symbol next to is is only the dp logo.
hard to believe this wont do the same thing, but i dont have any proof
this is a great price for a 12th gen but ive grown to accustomed to touch screens in my laptops

I want a Windows laptop for college use, MS Office software, that has great battery life. Does this laptop meet that criteria?

the best deal so far all season was still imo the woot 8gb n6000 chromebook flip 14 i think it was, with very nice flip build quality and 300 nits touchscreen for 150. naturally that sold out in a couple hrs tho.

this one checks all the boxes except one for me, the 250 nits screen. i like 300 and above. but it's also in a different price category than that chromebook. this is windows if you care, and has a better cpu.

I also concur with the other comment. I believe the Inspiron 15's support charging via USB C (a vast majority of modern laptops do) however the USB C port probably does not accept enough power to fast charge and under under heavy load might still discharge (but you'll greatly extend battery life).

I too think it is wasteful to supply a barrel type charger when plenty of other laptops come with USB C chargers that supply 200+ watts of power.
you'd be surprised how well laptops can do on small usbc chargers. I don't even carry my official power brick with me on my enterprise class dell workstation (precision). I just use the same charger that I use for my phone. it's a small 2"x1.5" brick and the same usbc to usbc cable that I use for my phone. yeah the laptop will tell you that it is an inadequate charger but i have never felt handicapped. and my battery was always full.

i dont remember which it was but it was a simple anker or something charger that I got off a slickdeal for like $15.

this is a good deal if you want new, but honestly i would personally recommend getting a dell refurb latitude 1080p unit. yeah you get an older 8th gen processor but it is more than good enough and you get very high build quality, much less heat, etc.
and still get usbc charging, backlit keys, etc. and like $180

Dang, just bought this last week for slightly higher. Used the Amex $40 off. This deal is about $19 less.. oh well. As for the laptop, not bad at all for the price. Screen is decent for indoor use. No USB-C. Pretty snappy but I haven't installed anything extra on it. Just web browsing and YouTube so far for the few days I've had it. I do miss not having a backlit keyboard but at this price point Its fine. If you need a basic laptop with pretty good specs and can get it at this price with the coupons and the Amex 40 off then go for it.

The OP info says IPS screen. The Dell website says WVA. Not sure if that matters much.

Also, don't miss checking Expedited Shipping for free.

I like the fact that it's a 12th gen (even if it's the slowest one, it beats most previous generations handily) and both the ram and ssd are upgradable. If it had a USB-C with displayport it would be a no-brainer at this price (not just for power, but also for an easy dual external monitor setup).

I'm planning to buy a basic laptop to use with my QHD monitor. Does anyone know if this can output QHD resolution or is 1080p max? Any suggestions for a basic laptop with QHD output? Thanks

Should be able to output at QHD since the USB-C port is DisplayPort 1.4 compatible.
